The same Club, just better...

Hello All. Have just received the notification of the changes through the old fashioned medium of the postal service.
I would have to agree with some fellow members views that I don't recall any notification of the merger or logo change. Was there any discussion or publicity on either the website or in the magazine?
I'm not worried re: the change of name but the logo is meaningless (yes, I have watched the how we designed it video) and dull. Orange and brown were favourite colours of the 1970s - perhaps there is a certain retro irony at work here? Or maybe I'm just old and the 1970s has become fashionable again.
Would it not have been possible to run a competition for members to re-design the logo? That way we would have been more involved with the changes and felt 'ownership' as management speak has it.

I posted a comment earlier...thought I would be one of a few with negative views on the rebranding. Just logged in again to see what others have thought. Surprised (but inwardly pleased) that so many more feel the new name pointless and the new logo even more pointless. Not an inclusive decision but one made by a marketing lead team now keen to spend Club money (sorry invest) in new signs, uniforms and everything else with a logo.

Have been to the show today and in conversation with Granville,he said that the "feedback" he and the staff on the stand had received had been "positive?" and but had not looked on here, but Facebook? seemed ? positive? anyone had a look? and motor caravans have only been admitted since 1962,after the club was taken back from the controlling company which was the owners of practical caravan (Link house) still the wardens new redish colour bobble hats are

My 4 yr old Daughter would have loved the competition and would have done a much better job! So much for motivating future members. Someone has got things very wrong!

Rest in Peace 'Caravan Club.' I mourn your passing.

Sorry the new "logo" does not work for me, seems a change for changes sake & has any body noticed the similarity with some health web sites, at some stage you will need to be careful with the new address or you will be getting health sites!

Approaching 800 comments here and I would estimate about 20 positive responses, include those on the locked threads and the situation worsens. Take a look on Facebook where you will see more criticism of the manoeuvre. Staff at the show report 'positive feedback' so there must be a rarified group of members attending, I doubt they are flush with new members.
I joined the club as I found the opposition's website incomprehensible, there was no other comparable organisation but the management seem to have forgotten that we are members, not customers, and we appear to have been treated with disdain.

I am totally underwhelmed by the whole re-branding exercise. Just what is it supposed to achieve? It is not as though the club has just decided to open the gates to motor home users; they have been using the club alongside caravans for ages.
What is the problem the club is trying to fix with the re-branding? Is this a good way to be spending membership fees? For me the answer is no because there are many improvements that members could think were more important than this.
As for the logo - well I spotted it at the NEC on opening day yesterday and was somewhat confused by the design because I confused it with the logo of a Korean motor car manufacturer that often advertises in the club magazine. The design is not eye catching and the colours are subdued and only time will tell how recognisable it becomes.
I think it is a great shame that the Caravan Club has carried out this re-branding and dumped what was a very recognisable and long standing brand.
Is this progress or change?

As a Motorcaravanner I find it all rather sad that a small percentage of caravanner feel that their mode of mobile accommodation is the only one worthy of representation by the club. My wife and I have owned both modes and have always only ever experienced real cameraderie between them as we all want the same thing, fresh air and freedom to roam at will.
For those dinasaurs who would rather leave the club than embrace other like minded souls I say carry on, the rest of us will continue to enjoy each others company regardless of their choice of transport.

Well I've come home tonight to some letter and stickers from the Calamity and Mischief club or whatever The Caravan Club has been named
Was it really necessary to send out a letter and some stickers, couldn't it have waited until new membership card or handbook time from a cost point of view?
Anyway mine are in the bin already.
Still not impressed.

Sorry but dislike everything about the rebrand, the logo is dull and boring and the name change has turned it from a stand alone Caravan Club that everybody instantly knew to a name that blends in with the rest eg caravan and camping club. I Deleted User the app thinking I had downloaded it by mistake and almost threw letter in the bin because I didn't associate any of it with Caravan Club.

As posted before there does not seem to be any negatiive posts on the caravan clubs "mission statement" that the club has to go forward, what the huge majority on here and facebook, are against is why has an internationaly known club and its logo that is recognised every where needed to "rebrand" when a caravan is a caravan whether it is a trailer caravan or motor caravan as the well respected cc and logo encompases

I can't wait to see the next magazine, where no doubt the new Chairman Trump will tell us that there has been an overwhelming amount of positive feedback and we've all embraced the logo and name change and that anything other than that is Fake News. Actually I have another Trumpism (amended for CMAC purposes) "CMAC HQ is running like a fine-tuned machine, despite the fact that no one like our new logo"

What makes you think that Motorcaravanners felt in some way left out?
This fiasco was brought about by the "Consultants" brought in by head office to tell them what we think (and charge US MEMBERS) a huge sum for doing so!!!

Facebook comments on the club page are positive but shall we say moderated. Club staff are only responding to positive comments using the script.
"Yes we're really excited" or "We love it too"
Other FB groups are also discussing it and it's not very positive. In fact the club has a long way to go to overcome the stuffy, fuddy duddy etc perceptions.
It depends how far the chairman wants to look to get a true picture. Going on historical evidence I'd suggest not very far. There was an overwhelmingly positive response to COTY remember.
Post truth stuff

Have just been looking at the Facebook posts and noticed how many responses they have had from the club to Positive posters but little or non to Negative posters.
I have yet to see any response to the question most asked, how much has this cost, which surely we are entitled to know.
Despite being told on this thread it was in response to members feedback, is there a single member who recalls being asked for their opinion?

Was this the chairman that drove his new caravan up the slope on the TV programme to find the Champion Caravan driver and ripped the back of his van off in front of the cameras. Sounds like a very thorough and thinking guy. Sg.

Just how much excitement can Club Members take, today's excitement is the new logo window stickers in this morning's post, probably stay in the envelope they came in.
Will the Club management be publishing the cost of the re-branding ???

My wife and I have spoken to a few of our caravanning friends and we all unanimously hate the new nothing logo and the new name .How much more can our ruling body embarrass the membership of what we thought of as our Caravan Club ? What a waste of money !
