Can't find the original photography thread so thought I would start another.

Apart from a Bluetooth shutter release zapper (hurry up Santa) I now have all the gear for Digi scoping using my phone.  The quality of photos using my Samsung S6 are very good.  The attachment for the telescope is made by Viking and I got mine from an RSPB shop.

From watching Planet Earth it seems that a lot of remote cameras end up being chewed by the subjects.

     OP

Just noticed that you are waiting for the Bluetooth shutter release.....I have Wifi on my camera and had no idea how that could be used, until my son grabbed my new Samsung tablet...moved away 30 feet and started taking pictures with my camera.

I could set the camera up somewhere in the garden, sit indoors looking at tablet screen and taking pictures.  I wouldn't as half the fun is sitting under a net and waiting as I did yesterday with Long tailed tits who have taken a liking to my home made fat ball.

Bluetooth Zapper worked well until I accidently dropped it at Halvergate where a car ran over it.  It still works but not quite as efficiently.  Still they are very cheapsurprised

I guess that would also work with the phone.

Has anyone had any dealings with a company called e-infin.com really competitively priced camera equipment.  Reviews look ok but can't find a UK address or e-mail, yet they say they have a UK base?  I've checked companies house but nothing there.  By using them I could save over £400, but do I risk it.  I guess all their stuff is Hong Kong imports

I haven't heard of them but would be cautious . What has surprised me are the amount of counterfeit brand names about. Now they may be legitimate but I'd need a few reassurances.

They are a Hong Kong company that would like you to think that they are UK based. They do get good reviews but you will have to pay import duty, VAT and clearance fees when your goods arrive. With that in mind you should check and compare prices carefully.

BM have looked at a company called HDEW Cameras and look ok, have e-mailed them this afternoon about a clause in their T&C's and got a response in a couple of hours.  I will order this evening the lens and 1.4 mk3 extender with a saving of £445.  So happy to go ahead.  I will then sell a couple of my redundant lenses on E Bay.

They appear to have very good reviews, so hope you enjoy the kit. I bumped into the guy who runs one of the bird blogs around our area and he was drooling over his lens and Mk3 converter used with a 7D mk2.

I took this pic earlier to see how well a pic from about 1 mile away and  a 50% crop would come out.

shutter speed of 1/1000 sec F8 1600 iso

    reasonable I would say.

I am sure you will be delighted as everyone I have spoken to has been.

Perhaps we could meet up If I make it to Minsmere, a local expert is a must.

HDEW Cameras are based here and a company of long standing now selling "grey" photographic imports from Europe as far as I know. I've used them a couple of times for Canon gear without any problem.

    Hi OP

Did you go ahead with your proposed purchases, and if so how are you getting along with them, I was hoping to get out today, but wet drizzle and snow has discouraged me at present.

    Hi Oneputt.

I would be interested in hearing how you get on with Digiscoping. I love my photography and am now just trying my hand with the scope. Finding it a bit hit / miss but I'm sure its my technique. We were up in Nth Norfolk yesterday. Didn't take the scope but thought it would be a good place to get some wildlife shots and practice Next time though. Went to Walsingham for the Snowdrop walk through the Abbey. Took some nice Picts there. Certainly worth a visit if you have not been. Anyhow it would be good to hear if your scoping is a success.

Keep us posted on Hdew, assuming you used them, and how you get on with the lens.

I can't get out enough since I bought the 5D mk4 with the lens before christmas.

1.4mm extender arrived today so hopefully lens will arrive tomorrow.  Even better advertised my Tamron 150-600mm lens on eBay and sold it in less than an hour for over £100 more than offered on part exchange, well happysmile
