One size does not fit all. Let's have as many hats as possible adding to the mix. No point in allowing some to be worn and not others as you end up with consensus by elimination.

And that's not good at all!

    That's very true, Husky.

Have you noticed that the ones who complain the most about offensive posting are the ones who do most of the offensive posting? Deflection tactics, maybe?

Anyway, what did you decide to do in the end, Onepjg?

I forgot to mention earlier that there is an attractive looking service area on the M40, if you are into staying on service areas.

Not been there, but it looked quite nice driving past.

I understand where JK is coming from and thank him for the info.  However, last year to much publicity the club had all the full time employed staff champions introduce themselves and since then I have only seen a couple of them post.  There have been a number of threads that could have been stopped in their tracks by knowledgeable champions posting.

Apologies for being off topic, I will now report myselfsurprised

Oh no, don't kill the thread. I was waiting for JK to tell us how as a warden he differentiates between those who are accidentally late and those who are deliberately late, and what he does about it. Does he have a rule book to follow on the matter?

Onepjg, have you taken a look on google earth at the area you hope to spend your first night in? Broadway does have a LNA area, but tiny, and doubles as car park, like many of the Club's such LNA's. You could be taking a poor bet, expecting it to be empty, and then at 11.30 ish at night, will be trying to find somewhere safe for you and your family to park up.

Always pays to do some decent research if your journey isn't likely to be straightforward, likewise, phoning site and talking to Wardens usually helps best as well.

I would think the answer is simple. First trust the better nature of people, you can't do anything about their honest only they can do that.

The real question is what is the true purpose of LNAs?  is it for those who want plan their holiday and turn up late or is it for those that find themselves turning up late despite every effort to arrive at their stipulated time.

The LNA area at Broadway is easily capable of taking a couple of car/caravan outfits and probably a motorhome too at the same time though I think there are only two power supplies. Yes it does double up as a visitors car park but cars have to vacate before 8pm and there are plenty of signs to that effect.

Suggest the OP just picks up the phone and speaks to the wardens at Broadway, they can best advise him. The wardens currently at Broadway are a friendly accommodating bunch and I'm sure they will help him out. To be honest, if he'd done this to start with the chest beaters could have worked their magic on something even less trivial and the OP would have saved himself a whole load of time and conflicting personal opinion.

the problem the OP has is he has posted on here instead of playing dumb booking the night before and phoning at 7.45 to say he had been delayed so would it be OK to use the LNA as if he really had been delayed and was using the LNA for what it was designed for!!!

Personally think it would be better all round  especially with kids to book a site en-route for the night in question then amble to site ready for 12 check in unless of course the motive is to get on site early which I expect is what happens if you are delayed and have to say on the LNA as there will be a pitch allocated to you.

You beat me to it ,i have found the same, which is what has been stated in several posts,LNA is for people who although booked for that day will not arrive before 8pm, not for people who are booked for the following day

Yep, goes without saying I would have thought. Nowhere does it state though, that the LNA can only be used in the event of circumstances out of the members' control. You can 'intend' to use it provided you arrange in advance with the relevant site staff.

NA, thanks for clarifying size of LNA, it was showing four car parking spaces marked out on GE image, so must be larger than it looks.

It's quite large, larger than most other sites and at a push, three car/caravan outfits would probably fit.

Just for info, if any visitors intend staying beyond 8pm, the wardens will direct those to another car park within the site, next to the Goods Shed. This will easily accommodate at least 10 cars

That's exactly as we have been suggesting. The key words are arrange with site staff,  in advance and let staff know.

As said all along, it's good to talk!

    Hallelujah wink

Quite how it took around 100 posts to get here is anyone's guess. All kinds of accusations and insinuations were needlessly popping up.

The OP said in his very first post he would happily pay for the night he was due to arrive. It's clear from the rules the LNA can be used for people who intend to arrive late. Just a call to the staff is required.

But as we've said, that call could lead you to hearing something you may not want to hear! Like, 'sorry, they are taken, others have requested their use, we have someone who is stuck in traffic who needs it'!

LNA's clearly need managing by the staff on site and hence the wording of the 'rule'.

Peter, call the site and ask the question, the site staff will give you a definitive answer. No blurb, speculation or opinion. It'll either be a yes or no.

You noticed it too Ian.----- And as this is a friendly forum, not an adversarial one, there is really no need for them to post in that way.

It did not take 100 posts. Near the start the OP was advised to contact the site.

Lna is just that a late arrival , and not a early arrival get me in first  to get the best pitch area ! , it should never be planned to use it to do that ,  simple solution stop on the way as most people do . No brianer IMO
