Pays de la Loire / Southern Brittany sites.
Suggestions please.
Looking for camp sites on the Pays de la Loire / Southern Brittany the coast within walking distance (3 miles) or bus of quaint towns with a nice feel around the harbour area, preferably in the ACSI network. Time of planed visit – June to early July.
Thanks.

"Quaint town with nice feel around the harbour" sounds like La RocheBernard in southern Brittany - but it's a river estuary harbour not the sea. If you are interested the campsite is called Le Patis - right on the waterside by the boats - you have a choice of a full sized pitch or close together Motorhome pitches near the entrance. But afraid I don't know whether the site is in ACSI - I don't wear that straitjacket restricting my movements.

NIce site, I am sure when we stopped there ( motorbike tour) it was a municipal site. La Roche Bernard is a lovely town couple of nice bars and restaurants and a small supermarket at the top end of the town.

Also try Trinite-sur-mer.

We've stayed at Arrandon, Camping L'Allee, which I believe is now ACSI. Whilst the small town is functional I wouldn't call it "Quaint". There are walks to the town which take you past the inlets near town and you can catch small ferries to some of the islands in the Golfe de Morbihan from juts south of Vannes, where there is a campsite, which used to be the Municipal de Conleau, don't know if still is. This site is about 3 kms from Vannes and you can walk into Vannes or cycle from the site. Ticks the boxes for harbour as well but I've never stayed there.

I stayed on Campsite Le Moulin de l'Eclis, just North West of Saint-Nazaire near Asserac on the coast. Lovely ACSI site with a gate directly onto the beach. Probably the best, most modern toilet block I've ever seen.

Le Conleau is now operated by Flower Camping and is an ACSI site. It has been modernised since its municipal days and is very good.
If you take a pitch higher up on the site, near the swimming pool, you get a view over the Morbihan from inside the van.
Turn right out of the site and take the short walk through the woods to the island. There are a couple of nice restaurants and sit on the quayside watching the boats. DON'T use the first place you come to which calls itself a resto or some such. If you do, check your bill very carefully.
Instead, follow the swimming pool around to the river bank. Better views and better establishments.
Vannes itself is a very interesting old city. There is a cycle path from the site which follows the bank of the Morbihan. It is something of a long walk though so the bus, from the stop outside the site gate is a good option. L'Orient is not a long drive away and is well worth a visit, especially a tour of the submarine pens.

I also would recommend Moulin de l'Eclis. It is an excellent site with a very good pool complex. However, the tide goes a long way out and leaves a large expanse of mussel beds exposed. The new (2013) toilet/shower block is indeed excellent - I'd say the best I've seen in France. As a bonus, La Roche Bernard is close by and this is a very interesting town (with the excellent municipal site, Le Patis, alongside the river - as said above). Many may find the salt pans in the area of interest.
If you like municipal sites, you might like to try Camping de Pont Augan (at Pont Augan !!) near Baud. This is alongside the River Blavet with a towpath for miles (or kilometres !!) in both directions which are superb for cycling. See the website of the mairie at Languidic for details.
