Sites with Fully Serviced Pitches - a Discussion

Sometime ago, someone on the forum, produced a list of the locations of sites with Fully Serviced Pitches. Fully serviced pitches are now pretty well essential to me, due to a back condition. I need to minimise any lifting.

I realise now I should have printed a copy of the post, but didn't, as I could always look it up. Try as I may now, I cannot find it. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

    Hello Mr H.

With the introduction of this new version of CT we, unfortunately, lost several 'sticky' threads such as the one you mention. Try as we may, a few of us have searched for the missing threads which were all very helpful but, alas, to no avail.

It looks like, when time permits, somebody will have to start afresh. frown

Yes I remember that too. I also thought the club had produced one. I can't find it! Maybe you could call the club or send an email?

PS I've found a list of sites that have 100% hard standing here: https://www.caravanclub.co.uk/uk-holidays/useful-information/types-of-pitch/hardstanding-pitches/

and it does list service pitches as well. Not sure if it has all of them but might be a start?

Just quoting myself here but I'm not sure about how correct that list is? It says that Castleton is all service pitches?

If you highlight and copy the column surfer it will then paste easily into Word or similar.

It was I who produced a list with the main CC sites that have Serviced Pitches etc.  I'll have a look to see if I kept a copy of it, but to be honest, it is probably out of date now.

This link: https://www.caravanclub.co.uk/uk-holidays/useful-information/types-of-pitch/hardstanding-pitches/ only lists the service pitches on sites that are all hardstandings.  If you go down to the bottom of the page and click on the individual countries e.g. England etc, it only lists the number of hardstanding and grass pitches.  Who knows why no Service Pitches count!

I did ask for 'Serviced Pitches' to be added to the search boxes when you search for a site, but even with the new website provision hasn't been made for this.  I wished I could remember who I asked about this - I think it's time to ask again.  Now that the CC have rejected my/our plea to be able to book hardstandings, it becomes more important for us to be able to book a Serviced Pitch in order to secure a hardtanding.

I have Deleted User this post as the list I provided was from my 2013 list.  However, I have now updated the list.  The new list can be found on page 2 of this thread.  I hope you will find this more useful.

Good post David, Hope the club updates it website and filter to include service pitches. They are popular. I noticed that the service pitches at Melrose are fully booked at weekends till about July!

They are indeed popular, even if only to secure a hard standing pitch.  I think we are going to see more of these type of pitches coming on line.  Just my personal opinion - no inside information etc..

One of these days I'll have a go at updating the above list, but this may not be immediate.

Edit: New list now on page 2 of this thread

Yes, we've been on a full serviced pitch at Chapel Lane  (I think), and at Blackshaw Moor too, if my memory serves me correctly. I will update the list as soon as I have the time - it's 4 years old now!.

I’m sure your list will be a great help to the OP & others also. I never knew a list existed so I copied & saved it into a word document for future reference.  Thanks DSB.

    Hi everyone.

I have spent this evening updating my list of Caravan Club (CC) and Affiliated Sites (AS) that have Full Serviced pitches.  After the site name, the numbers e.g. (8/28) means 8 serviced pitched out of a total of 28 pitches etc, but these are numbers I found on the CC website in 2013, so they will be out of date.  The current website does not state the number of Full Serviced Pitches. The sites in Italics are Affiliated Sites - these pitches cannot be booked on the CC website - the site must be contacted separately.

Please check all details yourself before booking.  If anyone should spot any errors please let me know and I will update this list.

Please note that the list that was below is now out of date so has been Deleted User.  The up-to-date list is now a sticky thread all on its own here:  https://www.caravanclub.co.uk/club-together/discussions/sites-touring/uk-sites-touring/list-of-club-sites-with-full-serviced-pitches/

Thank you David you are a star.

Can I please make a plea to the club, to make this type of pitch easier to find?

Thanks for the comments folks.  If you copy the list into a word document, the links should copy too so that you can hopefully go straight to the site you want from that word document.

Please post up if you spot any errors.

    Best wishes

If David, probably a normal ordinary person, can go to the trouble of making a list of fully serviced pitches, why can't the CC with is highly paid IT department do similar?

Thank you David as a list like this is truly appreciated especially if one has mobility issues.  I really think we need more fully serviced pitches across the network.

Surfer said 'I really think we need more fully serviced pitches across the network.'

Difficult one really. From a personal point of view I have no desire for a serviced pitch nor, in the case of CC, to pay an extra £4 a night in order to obtain a single fill and empty on a 5 night stay on facility sites. After all £20 seems expensive to fill and empty once.

However there are doubtless some that due to a physical problem need this. It is a shame that it then costs them an extra £4 a night but I suppose that if that was not the case more people would make the choice purely for what they see as convenience.

    Hi David

Couple of updates for your list.

Seacroft now has 33 service pitches out of 111; following the extension and refurbishment.

Harbury Fields - all the pitches are serviced.

We stayed at both sites last year

Unfortunately in our case it is the wife that has to lug around the water so a fully serviced pitch is preferred even if it costs £4 more a night.  IMHO a fully serviced pitch should be cheaper than a normal serviced pitch as at the end of the stay no empting litres of freshwater onto the grass area.  No need for facilities to be used as water is drained away by the caravan so less maintenance.  No need to queue for a shower or queuing to fill water barrel or empty waste water container.  Even worse when the area to dump waste water means lifting up the container!  Perhaps sites without amenities should have all fully serviced pitches.

I appreciate that some have a need for a serviced pitch. If I am particularly suffering with my spine after a long drive OH will insist on fetching the water.

Providing water at most pitches should not be a great expense. Supplying drainage is another matter.

I am not sure how many dump water on the pitch beyond the contents of their hot water tanks. In my case I knock the heating off in advance and pump the remains of the aquaroll into the wastemaster via the caravan sink and hot water line. This saves dumping too much water on the pitch and ensures that the water dropped from the tank is cold.

It is a significant premium, £3.90 for services pitches and £4.90 for the super pitches at Chatsworth. However, I assume the CC can charge it, because enough folk are willing to pay for the Convienience. I certainly count myself amongst that number, and we will always book a service pitch if available, unless only stopping for the night.

The trouble is Steve that many members such as myself do not wish to spend nearly £4 a day when an aquaroll will last them 5 days. (personally I would sooner give somebody £10 to fill up for me every 5 days. smile

That in itself is not the problem I have I suppose. More to the point is that for some members it is desirable. For some it is more than just desirable due to physical limitations and I dislike them having to pay the additional cost and also wonder at their chances of booking such pitches when they seem to get booked up well in advance on some sites.

I recall a few years ago on Blackshaw Moor CC site that there was a chap on another part of the site that was overlooked from our pitch. When around and about outside his caravan he used a Zimmer. I saw that he was going for water and so had to leave the Zimmer and using a single walking stick make his way with the aquaroll. It would have been up a faie bank coming back and he looked none too steady on his feet with the empty aquaroll. Naturally I walked across and assisted as most I hope would. I thought then that he was one chap that needed a serviced pitch
