It rained all night and was a very wet start to the morning.  I had another stint in the Visitor Centre this morning but it was very quiet.  I think the poor weather was keeping everyone indoors.frown

Glad you are both having good holidays moulesy and Wherenext. The cottage with the woodburner sounds wonderful moulesy.  We had many happy walking holidays in that area with our youngest son some years ago.

I hope all those with coughs, colds and having had teeth out soon recover.

Know the site. We've stopped there a couple of time a while ago. By your description  guess that they've not enlarged the pitches any. There's an easy walk just up the road into Delemere Forest.

Did you get to Alderley Edge today? That's another of our favourite walking places. Many years ago I want with our local geology group on a tour of the mines under the Edge. Quite an experience. Didn't see the dragon though!!

Cold seems to be going so hopefully I won't be carrying any infection when we meet up tomorrow.

Finally finished tiling the kitchen floor today by grouting the second half of the floor.

Boy, that black grout is messy stuff!

    Anyway, it looks a treat!

Moved the washing machine and dish-washer back in this afternoon. Just a couple of door plates to fit (ordered from Amazon) and that's it sorted.

    Sounds good Ian, well done!

DD  is about to order her kitchen wall tiles, so that will keep me busy for a while.  I have suggeated she shoild do the grouting herself.  She has agreed, as long as I show  her how to do it.

All water valves in the first  loft now changed, did not take as long as I feared, so now just that leak on the shower feed to fix.

DD used to have ceramic tiles on her kitchen floor and her bathroom floor in her flat in the West End of Glasgow, she now rents it out and has a 3 storey town house a bit further out of town.

Anyway......she found the floors rather unforgiving and hard to stand on.

Anything dropped on them broke, and the tiles  were easily damaged, so ended up with a few chips in them.  They did however look very nice.

Hopefully, Ian, your tiles are less delicate.  Certainly black grout will be much better than the white grout  + white tiles that DD had.  They were very difficult to keep clean.

She now rents the flat out and has replaced the kitchen floor with vinyl "Cushion Floor", and the bathroom floor with a waterproof tile effect laminate, which looks really good.

Think you'll be in luck Francis. We're in Hawkshead and the forecast for the next few days is getting colder but basically dry and bright. Good weather! Where are you staying?

Busy day today, met up with friends for our monthly coffee and chat session. Fetched the van from storage,  it needs a good clean and a couple of running repairs before we get away.

Heard from son , he's now got the keys to his new home, very excited,  starts new job next week.

Went into work this afternoon, prep for the vat return, frown

Glad to hear everyone enjoying their holidays.

Millie: pleased you are enjoying helping in the visitor centre, I'am sure it will get busier when the weather warms up a bit.

Very dull, grey day here today.  Mr H is 'walking' our road with our local councillor and someone from the council cleaning dept this afternoon as he has complained about the amount of litter in our road and around the shops at the top of the road.  We haven't seen any litter pickers or the gutter cleaning vehicle for months and months.

Grey and dull here too today but dry thankfully. OH is busy replacing the frame around our kitchen/back door and I am doing housework, thought I would go and be busy in the rest of the house were its warmer than in the kitchen as he has the door open brrrr!  Main bedroom, bathroom and hall all had a good bottoming, washing machine busy, just had a spot of lunch so thought I would have a quick look in on CT. Might do a bit of ironing in the lounge to keep out of his way.

Finally.....after 3 goes at these joints leading to the shower, new washers in the fittings, and much PTFE tape......I think I have stopped the leak.

Testing it under pressure now, looking good so far, but I will leave the access open meantime to make sure.  Cannot replace flooring yet either as the floor that was wettest is still wet after 4 days.

I have a fan circulating air over it to see if that helps.

OH still has a painful jaw, but managed some toast with the crusts removed for breakfast.

DD's kitchen tiles are now on their way here and should come sometime tomorrow.  They are on a pallet which will just be unloaded onto, presumably, our driveway, so I will have to move them from there into the back of the car.  The weight is 78kg apparently!

My OH usually does his own, and can be persuaded to do mine as well! He is out of action at moment though, a temporary glitch. We are doing the Rick Stein Long Weekends on catch up. Very interesting programmes and some nice recipes.smile

Woke up to a bright cold, but most importantly, dry morning today. Ideal conditions for our meet up with Mr & Mrs Nelliethehooker and Flyte. Very nice walk around Tarn Hows, a lovely spot in any conditions and then lunch at the Black Bull in Coniston. We've been very lucky with the weather so far this week, hope it holds for the rest of the week!

Have had a few repasts in the Black Bull sounds like a good holiday. An area we return to often.

KJ watch out with those tiles. OH put himself out of action lifting tile boxes recently. All work now completed!

Great to meet up again. We enjoyed our walk, chat and lunch. The Coniston Brewery stout went down a treat, too. Will have to do similar again somewhere else in the country.

Hope that the weather holds out for the rest of your stay up in the Lakes.

I've been in Worthing hospital for the last three days.

On Monday I had an appointment with the GP because of difficulty breathing and walking. I kept getting breathless after just a few steps. I was referred to the hospital for a blood test and chest xray. That night I got a phone call from the hospital doctor about dangerously low life threatening haemoglobin of 43 that was revealed from the blood test. The phone call came at 3 a.m. and an ambulance was sent to collect me and take me to hospital into the accident and emergency unit. By the time the ambulance arrived, I was gasping for breath and they gave me emergency oxygen. So I have been given blood transfusion and now recovering. The treatment is now finished and I'm just waiting for them to tell me I can go home!

Not nice MM. Hope you're going to take some time off for recovery. Give up the day job before it gives you up.

NTH - Didn't get to the Edge as Mrs. WN wasn't too great so we pottered. Now in Chester awaiting appt with the driller killer! A masochistic affair! Glad you and M had a good day. The Lakes can't be beat in good weather.

It was scary, wherenext! I couldn't believe my phone ringing at 3 a.m. I wasn't expecting the blood results for two days. It seems their fast action saved my life!
