CC On line ferry booking....ggrrr rubbish service!
I have once again spent most of my afternoon trying to get ferry prices for Portsmouth or Poole to St Malo using the CC booking service. It is driving me bonkers! I put in the boxes I want a night time return journey but will not show one. The map shows a Poole/St Malo service, it never appears on the ferry service options!!! And it is simply S L O W!! Is it me?!

Ferry to St Malo is definitely from Portsmouth not Poole. Perhaps you are putting impossible times in as that ship only runs overnight going south, but you cannot come back overnight on that route - it is day time only. Exact timetable is correct on Brittany Ferries website. Is that any help?

Yes, Steve, you are right. There is a Tuesday overnight service homewards once a week in the Spring. Perhaps one way forward is to get detailed times and prices on line from Brittany Ferries for specific dates, and then ask the Club for a comparison.

I think Portsmouth to Poole is only cars not caravans,I did Poole to Cherbourg a few years ago arriving at 12.30 in Cherbourg and Poole 22.00 only 4 hrs.I go Portsmouth St Malo night crossing perfect off ferry early in morning all day to travel south.

Ok, thanks for replies. We need to sail back at night otherwise I loose (waste) a days holiday. So apart from the obvious Dover-Calais route, which crossings can I sail back to Blighty at night? The advantage of St Malo is we can (just) drive from Santander in 2 stages. Caen or Cherbourg just tips the distance over the limit for me into another days driving. And no, ferry to Santander is not an option, I am a crap sailer so bay of Biscay is a non starter for me!

I don't want to get it wrong again!
Best if you look at Brittany Ferries on line timetable for ferries homeward from Le Havre, Caen Cherbourg, Roscoff and St Malo, and DFDS Ferries homeward from Dieppe to Newhaven.

If you go to the Brittany Ferries website you can see a comprehensive timetable for all routes. They sent me a hard copy this year, which is very useful, as part of my Club Voyage membership.
Personally I would not rely on making Santander to St Malo in 2 days as any slight hold up will mean your missing your ferry. But that's your decision.
