I am sorry you have had no replies so far. I have only been to that area once but would just say that however "good" the Glen of Aherlow caravan site is it might not be a good idea to base yourself there entirely.  Tipperary is not actually the epicentre of all things interesting in Ireland,  and moving on to look further afield might be worthwhile and I do hope your visit goes well.

There is an awful lot of information on the UKCS website about touring in Ireland, campsites in Ireland, ferries to an from Ireland, and in the absence of any more useful replies on here it may provide some answers and some interesting reading.

One reason you may have had few replies is due to getting error message! I had 2 attempts from the latest activity pages 1 click on the title, 2 on read more of Vanda post and then red view this discussion. Thought I'd add this comment logged in, with a click if the like button to get back to right thread 😉. Same error message twice. Went back in via red view this discussion.  Was a very nice error page green signs similar to road signs. Was too angry to remember what they actually said 😂😂😂

Sorry can't help with your question about southern Ireland.
