Hi all, started m/h today after 4 weeks and after running the engine for 30 mins leisure battery was showing 85% on the control panel but as soon as I switched the engine off the level dropped to zero in a couple of minutes with no draw showing on the control panel. Battery is 3 1/2 years old and normally reaches full charge in minutes. Any help welcome

Assuming  you  have  the  'battery  by  your  home,  then

the  best  I can  suggest,  NTD,  is  to  remove  it  and

get  a  smart  charger ( if  available ),  connect  it  &

leave  for  a  good  few  hours.  Then  check  again --

if  there  is  no  significant  improvement,  ( I'm  not  asking

nor  expecting  perfection  !! )  then  it's  more  than

likely  you  are  the  proud  owner  of  one  deceased

lump  of  lead  in  acid  !!  Sorry  for  the  news  frown

    Brian

P.S.  And  I  did  NOT  say  Bread  in  Aspic  !!

A battery can not be charged in a few minutes.

The voltage reading after a short charge (30 mins)  will decay slowly over a few hours and end up the same as it's pre charged voltage....in your case did it really charge the battery at all?

After charging use a multimeter  at least 12 hours after charging to get the real state of the battery.
