Same here -- these low temps are not conducive
to "Water Problems" of any sort

evenings when not watching t.v. & / or knitting

a bath tomorrow" or should I leave it till closer to
the middle of Feb -- Cannot take a mucky 'van

Picked the van up from the dealers today after its annual service. They found some water ingress in the front window area but traced the problem back to the rail over the windows being a bit loose. Fortunately we are still within the 6 year warranty period. Have to remember to take it in next year before the 6th.year runs out.

. Best thing I can think of, as well as son's happiness etc is that our daughter and family could well be over to celebrate the nuptials too 
as I understand our granddaughters have been asked to be flower girls. Sooooo excited. Chatting to NZ tonight - I expect it will hit our pocket as they only have one wage coming in these days (might be the most painless way as don't fancy 26+ hour flight with at most a 4 and 1.5 year old ). Ohhhhhh such excitment .Milliehull sounds like you have a very talented family

KJNell worry over children starts before they arrive and appears to continue until we no longer know how to worry. I love the idea that you can follow the flights live across the world. It's certainly what we have done on the outward and return flights for son to NZ, seems to be even longer when you're not in the air LOL. Naturally our children worry over us on our trips

That's it I have started booking up for our 2017 hols! She who must be obeyed has decided that as we have hospital appointments, sailing regattas, just before our summer sojourn we are not going down south! This year it will be Scotland!

Bakers, there is no clue as to when the volunteering duties in the Cathedral will start. It is all up in the air at the moment as it is all very new. I think it could be another month at least so I will do some more shifts in the Visitor Centre so they don't forget me!! Gosh how exciting if you daughter and family come over for your son and future DIL's wedding. Your Mum will be excited to see her great grand daughters as I presume she hasn't seen them 'in the flesh'. Keep us posted.

Getting ready for my bus trip to London tonight to renew my passport, checking I have all the correct documents etc.
Hopefully will get some sleep on the way down, I have booked a bunk, but only seats on the way back tomorrow, so it will be a long day.
Free hot and old drinks and snacks are provided, so I will pack some fruit and get a sandwich for lunch tomorrow to keep me going.
Cold here today, sun earlier, but cloudy now.

Just had some new tyres on the caravan wheels, storage has sharp stone/rubble so dug out two squares, laid some sand and plonked two slabs down to protect the tyres. Now ready for the motormover fit on Wednesday.
Booked the CL near the tunnel for end of April and paid the Dart charge.

Special treat today, went to the hospital to see the orthopaedic surgeon about my knee. Had X-rays on both knees before seeing him. The good news is that the bad knee does not seem to have deteriorated much in the two years since the last X-ray although it's still in pretty poor shape. His advice was that if I was managing it not to go for the operation until it really needs doing and he said only I would know when that was. Interestingly he said that about 20% of patients that have the operation continue to suffer from pain. The pain in the knee is manageable but I also get a lot of lower back pain but his view was that it would not be the knee causing that so I have to discuss that as a separate issue with my doctor. So for the moment I have been discharged from regular appointments which at least make holiday planning a bit easier!!!

Great weekend with the kids and gkids, now a couple of days to recover.
Arrived at Ferry Meadows this afternoon, managed a short walk around the small lake before it got dark. Last time we were here it did nothing but rain so here's hoping this time we get out and about.
KJ, hope your overnight trip goes well.

On reflection David, my advice would be to leave it until really necessary. I've not been 100% happy with my left knee replacement - I'm putting off having my right knee done until really necessary. I still sometimes get pain in my 'new knee', but not as much - it just doesn't feel the same somehow. Kneeling is not very comfortable, but not painful - just difficult to explain. On the other hand the shoulder replacements were really good.
Anyway, the next thing is left hip x-ray this week, although I suspect my main problem in this area is sciatica.

Busy day today as we were out of food. Then this afternoon we went to pick up a new tablet for Mrs. WN as her Samsung is in its last throes.
Whilst out this morning I bought my first suit in over 20 years. It's sad to say that I am anticipating having to attend a few funerals soon and I have lost so much weight since buying my last outfit that at the last funeral I attended the corpse looked healthier than me. Anyway I didn't want to leave it to the last minute.

It does warm up in the awning when the sun comes out but unfortunately, there's not been much of that over the last few days. Even when the sun does come out, it's only there for about a couple of hours before it sets behind the hill.

Off to the hospital this morning for what I hope is the last time. Seeing the surgeon who did my knee. It's still a bit sore but getting better all the time. They did say it could take up to six months for all the gubbings inside to heal. Hopefully I won't be one of the 20% that David mentioned. Got to have an X-ray first, I suppose to see if everything is still in the right place.

Hope you get on OK at the hospital and glad you are making progress. I know lots of people who have had knees replaced and seem perfectly happy that they have been done. I think the trouble is that none of us can really understand how it affects another individual. At a push I can still walk a couple of miles despite the discomfort. I think the surgeon was being realistic in pointing out that for some the outcome might not be as good as they hoped. On the other hand a hip replacement operation has a much higher success rate and usually brings immediate relief of pain, usually from the day after the operation. I will watch your progress with interest.
