I saw that on the local news last night and thought of you. Won't the Yorkshire Building Society (who own N&P) not honour the accounts and their benefits?

Yes, such a shame. Just read it in my paper that Yorkshire BS who own N & P are pulling out of all current accounts and closing the N & P brand down. I know you were a good advocate of this account Val and it now means one less option.

I see my link doesn't work, so here it is again. N&P Current Accounts

Reading it, it doesn't appear that the Yorkshire Building Society will be taking over the accounts, just that they will be closed from August 2017.

Sad that yet another name is consigned to history. Depends on your needs but it is still possible to get 'free' cash & credit card payments. Nationwide have accounts for European and worldwide but there is a fee for the latter but there's quite a lot of useful, to us at any rate, benefits.

I fear banks will be looking to charge us for looking after our money. I have caught an article on radio 4 yesterday about the Link cash machines. I think they were talking about maintaining the network and may charge 🙄

Bad news for us. We use our newly-refurbished local branch of N&P in Market Deeping for paying in cheques and making cash withdrawals and so as well as finding new homes for our current accounts we will have to make a 20 mile round trip to do any banking of cheques. Out of 5 banks once here, we now have 1 and that could well disappear too. The loss of the debit card is also a blow. We always used the N&P card travelling abroad. The lack of charges made it the most attractive card. Now have to go with the Halifax Clarity card.

It seems from Val's link that the Yorkshire don't run a banking system, only savings hence the closing of the accounts and associated benefits.
