Route advice for trip to Serignan Plage

I realise similar posts may have been posted before but I have a few general questions that I would appreciate some advice on.
We are travelling to a site in Serignan Plage near to Beziers this summer, I will be towing a caravan and my sister in a folding camper. We are planning on stopping overnight half way down. We will have two children and three dogs in tow so would like to book sites beforehand.
I would like some general advice on the best route down, shall we avoid Paris? Which route is better the A20 or A75? We are travelling in August so are the routes prone to a lot of traffic?
And do you have any good suggestions for overnight stop overs? We really just need somewhere to sleep, but it may be nicer for my nephews if there is a little play park or something for them to unwind in after a long days travelling. I personally would like to try and get as near to the destination as possible (safely) on the first day. We are staying in folkstone and crossing at 5.50am on the eurotunnel.
Any general advice about towing in France will be gratefully received we haven't taken the van out yet but have booked this trip away, and will hopefully have a few runs in the uk before we go. Are the rules about equipment you need in France for caravans? I have driven in France so have all of the bits for the car but I did wonder if there are any caravan specific rules.

Most people would go via Rouen, Orleans, Clermont Ferrand and then on down the A75. It's 660 miles to Serignan Plage. The half way point is Camping Robinson at Bourges - and that may be plenty far enough if you haven't towed a caravan before. Yes, it may well be busy in August, especially at certain weekends.

Used to live near Beziers and route we always used was that suggested by eurotraveller. Weekends mid July - mid August are dreadful on the French autoroutes and these days should be avoided if at all possible. I'm afraid all main routes to the south of France are affected; there are the 'Boison Fuites' (think that is how you spell it!) alternatives but they are slow. We used to allow 2 overnight stops for the journey although it can of course be done with just one. If allowing only one night get an early morning ferry/tunnel. If you get a ferry at say 9am UK time, that is 10 am in France, and so you would not be on the road there until midday! Maybe an afternoon ferry and then 2 overnights on the way down would be best, you are after all, on holiday with your young family and dogs. No special rules for caravans in France. You may find it advisable to get a round pin adaptor for the electrics - most UK dealers have them. Check out speed limits for your caravan and be prepared to pay autoroute tolls! Get the CC France handbook, work out your daily distances and then find/book a site. Caravan/medical insurance is essential (Red Pennant - though there are others). Pet Passports. Enjoy the planning, it's part of the holiday.

The 'round 2 pin adaptor mentioned by Comeyras above is this one french electric adaptor Although many sites now have the 3 pin electrics, for the cost they are well worth carrying.
