Caravanning Mascots
Many caravans have their own mascot. What's yours, and how did you come by it and its name? The one in my 'van does not have a name but is a soldier monkey made by my daughter to guard the new 'van.

Ours is the caravan clubs tourer explorer Andy Venture we keep him on the dashboard. We got it a few years ago when my niece bought it for us and my sister bought the Holly Day soft toy to be their caravans mascot so we have the set lol

I do not have a mascot but I notice that it seems to be a growing trend with some motorhome owners. Some look quite humorous too.

We have about 20 sitting on the front shelf of the van when we're pitched. From Cedric the centenary bear to assorted members of the magic roundabout(knitted by our neighbour), to creatures collected from places we've visited(Welsh dragon,Scottish 'hairy
moo' & haggis, a bat from Brougham castle, rat from SS Great Britain, assorted dales sheep and Wenlock from Olympic Year). Oh, and a Moomin from the bookshop in Cirencester!they give the van a lived in feeling, and the front shelf is less of a large empty space. They all have names too - does anyone else name mascots?

I used to have a couple of small teddies. A Biggles one used to dangle from my rear view mirror and one relaxing in a hammock swung in the back window. Biggles lost his goggles and helmet and the hammock didn't fit comfortably in my latest motorhome so out they went and the only thing we now have is a fluffy toy Barbados Green monkey with velcro hands and feet dangling from the ceiling above one of the beds. This and a fluffy glove spider with big eyes keeps the grandchildren ammused when they visit. The fluffy spider sometimes sits on the dash board staring out at the world.

We prefer to keep the MH as clutter free as possible. Why spend time packing away a dozen furry toys from the cab before we can drive off pitch? It doesn't make sense to me to carry unnecessary items in a relatively small living space.

At the risk of being a party pooper....
I saw a car in our local car park with the dashboard and rear parcel shelf absolutely covered with small fluffy mascots. Like fluffy dice, it gives you visual warning of the mental capacity of the owner.
