Another CL Booking Bug.

Searching for a Cl near Tywyn Wales, I came across a site called The Meadows.

On the CC site page it states Overall site rating 5 ticks, based on 21 reviews.

I clicked on “read more reviews” and the first five were very good but when I click again on “read more reviews” I eventually realized that the next 8 reviews are for an altogether different site located in Devon!!

One of these 8 reviews was very scathing and only gave 1 tick. It would be easy for someone to think it was aimed at the site in Wales due to the CC website glitch.

How many more faults and bugs are in the system and what damage is being done to the CLs?

I am going to inform the CL owner in case they lose bookings as a result.

Yes "neveramsure" I'm afraid the above is our cl.  It made devastating reading, we were shocked and disappointed, as you say yet another glitch in the system.  We have emailed the response team who will hopefully rectify this "yesterday".  Thank you for bringing this to our attention so quickly.  I think part of the problem is we have the same site name as another in Devon, whatever happens it needs to be corrected as a matter of urgency.  One wonders where all our other sixteen 5* reviews went to...........

Looks like there is a problem with CLs having the same name as if you enter Greenacres as the CL name and select the 1st CL which is at Fakenham and then Read reviews and then read more reviews you will quite frequently get the reviews for my Greenacres site at Bibury. When looking at my reviews I have also managed to get the reviews for the Fakenham site. I can't get it consistently but I've achieved it several times but not worked out the pattern yet.

So not only the filter facility doesn't work properly, the reviews are messed up too.  That's possibly even worse and it could do a lot of damage to CL owners, I really feel for them.

I just don't understand how it is possible to have reviews mixed up for different CLs, ok, they may have the same name, but surely a competent IT department would be able to transfer the correct reviews for CLs onto the new website?

This is such a shambles and the filtering error stil hasn't been corrected either.

I'll ask again, what response has there been from The Caravan Club concerning all the problems with the new website?

As usual very little. They did promise to sort out these problems on CLs early in January, but they seem to be getting worse, not better. IMO they're trying to get rid of CLs so that they can concentrate on their core business....selling services these days.

To jojo9, our site reviews are a mess.  We are the Meadows, Bryncrug. West Wales.  Initially we were placed in Ireland, before Christmas on the new website, then apprx 9 of our 30 5* reviews were (not carried forward) to "the new website".  Now we have a mixture of reviews from The Meadows (Devon) and The Meadows (Suffolk) and they're not five star.  Angry and frustrated isn't even close to how we cls are feeling at the moment.  We all need your support, most of us love the work we do and feel we have  been so let down.

"I'll ask again, what response has there been from The Caravan Club concerning all the problems with the new website?"

Sadly no response at all apart from "we've referred the issue to the appropriate department".

Me too. It seems unlikely as the rumble of departing wheels would be deafening if they dispensed with the CL network.

Have to put on record we stayed at The Meadows at Tywyn and it was one of the best CLs we have ever stayed on.

I wonder how long its going to be before the Cl concept end up in other hands. I know the NFU are looking at it as they already provide most of the farming insurance. This web site disaster is only going to get more owners looking at alternatives.

in an earlier thread i asked 'should the club roll back to the previous version'....a typical 'disaster recovery' option....

i was pooh-poohed with comments like 'its only a forum, not an issue' and certainly not a 'disaster'.....

well, its certainly an issue (if not a disaster) for some CL owners, it seems....

i cant believe that the reviews arent attached to a CL using a unique key field, 'CL id' or similar....to assume the name field is unique is a pretty elementary error, as many are finding out....

identifying and trying to fix these data issues 'moving forward' will require manipulation by those familiar with the data itself, certainly not the IT dept, for sure.

that means it must be the CC staffers in conjunction with the CL owners, a huge task in identifying the errors and then manually correcting them....though i doubt there is any sort of user interface for moving reviews from one CL to another..

...which brings the task back to IT following a review by CC with all CL owners, as they (probably) don't even yet know the level of the problem....

also, does the club have the resources and, more to the point, the will to carry this out, while trying to firefight all the other issues that have been identified.

to that end, i cant say ive seen one improvemet in the basic navigation since this was thrust upon us, even simple things like where the log in takes you (incorrectly) hasnt been corrected after several weeks....so i dont see more difficult changes being made any more quickly...

in the real commercial world, this sort of fiasco just wouldnt be tollerated...

sorry, CC, but you need to up your game....

    I hope not.

We left  C&CC because their CS's continually flouted the rules and were over booked. The worst being one near Nottingham that had over 20 units (included caravans, motorhomes, trailer tents and tents) for one Bank Holiday weekend.

I cannot find a response from the CC anywhere, have they said anything about the mess that they have created?

The reason I have chipped in, is because the time is approaching when I will be booking CL's for our trips this year and I would like it sorted before then.  I always look at the reviews before we book and make a judgment as to whether any critical review is enough to put us off.

Up to now we have never had a bad CL, some have nothing going for them apart from being where we need to be, others have positions of outstanding beauty and would probably tempt us back.

We stayed at Greenacres, Bibury, a place in the middle of nowhere, just the sort of place we like, but the reviews told us all we needed to know, how far the bus stop was ect.

    Hope it get's sorted soon.

On the basis we are losing more and more of the CL stock you would have thought the CC could keep up and improve the quality of CL searches and information............undecided

I think there was a response on the snagging list about finding the lost reviews and restoring them as a priority (I think....because I haven't checked but seem to recall this question!)

I'm fast coming to the view that the CC simply don't care about CL's. 6 weeks since the website was updated and still none of the reviews for my Greenacres Farm CL have been re-instated and to make matters worse if a CL doesn't have any reviews then you cannot add a review! For my Greenacres CL then you might be lucky and see a few reviews relating to my CL but take the view more option and you get reviews for another Greenacres site in Norfolk! If you enter Greenacres Farm on the search page and select from the drop down you will get another Greenacres Farm site and not mine. On the old site for those of us with websites then the URL was hyperlinked...no more! Fortunately for my Greenacres Farm site there is a hyperlink within the description that did get carried across. If you detect an element of despair in my writings then you would be correct!!!!!

I agree, the situation is bad particularly as the sites directory is also so out of date and not yet replaced.

The Club is well aware of the issues regarding Search & Filtering for CL's.  The biggest issue - as Alan states - is that CL's with the same (or similar) names are not being correctly shown (or not shown at all), and/or their reviews are being muddled up.   I am not surprised that a few CL's are losing faith with the CC as a consequence of the new website.

I have been personally assured by Nick Lomas, DG of the CC that the search and filter issue is being actively worked on and that a 'Fix' should be implemented tonight (Friday 27 January).   However, the fix will not address all the issues regarding CL's that they are aware of.  Notably, the reviews may still be muddled.

The result of this issue? Some CL's are losing bookings as members (as demonstrated above) simply can't find the CL they are looking for.  Or they are seeing the wrong reviews..

Another consequence is that members who have found a CL they like the sound of are booking a CL based on an assumption - formed by the Filter search (for example they assumed that the CL had toilets) -  only to find that the CL does not have those facilities.

Of much greater concern (IMHO) is that very little (if any) communication has yet come from the Club about these well-known issues.  Ostriches come to mind..

Let's hope that the fix due tonight resolves many of the issues and that the Club acts swiftly to resolve the remaining CL related issues..

Our CL has disappeared from the dropdown!  It's there if you search Lancashire/Chorley/EHU,HS,and open all year and it was on the dropdown yesterday.........

The way this organisation has been run over the last 12 months is pretty poor to say the least.

That's putting it mildly in my opinion. When one looks at a CL's review now one cannot be certain that it is referring to that actual CL. It would be a good idea for the reviewers to put the name of the CL in their intro.

The way that the reviews are all out of sequence is also very misleading. One should not have to sort through all that's been made to fine the most recent.
