Can anyone please advise me how to get my down loaded Archiescamping files onto my TomTom

I think the Archies web site tells you how to do it. I don't use Archies but I'm sure Val will be along soon to help you, or many others.

it probably depends in the age of your tomtom...
older ones, like my Classic XXL use Tomtom Home as the computer interface and this allows the file system on the device to be viewed (and modified) by the user.....so POI files can just be dragged into the 'map' file (mine is 'western Europe').
newer devices use 'my drive connect' (i think) and this does not allow the file system to be viewed/modified.
therefore, all POI files have to be put onto a tomtom server and then downloaded from there....a bit like Apples App Store....
whether these files get vetted prior to 'release' i have no idea...
however, if they werent checked, then whats the point of having them go through a special route?
gold luck.

It would be useful to know what system you are using. If its Windows I would follow Deleted User User's instructions but add to that I would unpack the files to the Desktop as its a bit easier find.

hi David, both my units use Tomtom Home...my Classic XXL and the much older Tomtom One V3...
what unit do you have, is it newer than mine?....if so, i can see that it might have MyDrive Connect, however, if older it would be using Tomtom Home, wouldnt it.
this appears to be the definitive list of models/access software..
looks like the older devices, including early GO models use Tomtom Home...

If there is a simple answer to which system you use!!! I would say any TomTom device that can be connected to your computer via USB and can be seen as an additional drive would use TomTom Home as they use FAT file system compatible with Windows. I am not even sure you need TomTom Home as you can usually copy and paste into the map folder. If when you connect via USB it does not show as an extra drive as is the case with most later models you have to use My Drive as things can only be loaded to the device via TomTom software, not direct, as they don't the FAT file system, apparently TomTom fell out with Microsoft for some reason!!! I hope that makes sense!!!

From the list in the link, it would appear that there is downloadable software for M$ and OSX for both TT Home and MyDrive to enable a computer interface.

that was what i said, twice, earlier.....wasnt it?

ok, i see you can install and delete POIs downloaded on the harddrive..
do you mean the PC harddrive? and if so, how van you access the Tomtom file system, to add the POIs, if it cant be viewed on the PC via USB, as you can do with your old model?
this was the bit i didnt understand, as i thought 'drag/drop' wasnt possible with devices that were 'associated' with Mydrive connect...?
perhaps all mydrive connect devices dont have the USB restriction, only some of them....??
like you, i am suffering from lack of space on the device, but am managing just about, but had dreaded having to use mydrive connect if it meant i couldnt do what i wanted re POI files....

I hope Newly Retired who asked the question is following all this and understands it. I lost the will to live a while back. Thank goodness there are still roadside signs for me to follow.

love your post AD, no one does 'lost with style' better thsn us vsnners...
i have to go up country today to a place ive been three times before, but, being on my own, ill take the satnave just to remind me of the couple of key turns, so that i can concentrate on the driving snd not watching too many signs....
satnavs obviously arent for everyone, but i generally have mine with me...

Like BB, I tend to use my satnav as a reminder on a route I have previously worked out and committed to memory.

AD posted : You need this installed and open. On my Windows 10 pc there is an option in the far right-hand corner of the taskbar called "Show Hidden Icons", select this and there is another (tiny) MyDrive Icon, Right Click this and there is an option to Manage Community Content on my device
This opens another screen where you can add or delete POIs and browse your hard drive for the new files you want to add.
Its really quite simple one you find your way into this option but I cant for the life of me understand why they have made it so obscure and not simply had it as a menu item along with update maps etc.
I've recently bought the cheapest Start 20 TomTom, and after much trying I discover that adding POIs just isn't available for this model nor a lot of others at the cheaper end of the price range, nor is there a manage community content option as AD describes above. I came across a list of current TomTom devices that do support " 3rd Party POIs " as they describe them on a TomTom support page, and it is is available on many new models from roughly half way up the price range and above.. Ah well... it was only £80...I do find I have Camping Grounds ( how very american ) installed as POIs straight out of the box, and they have included the few CC & CCC sites I have looked for so far.

Thanks, very interesting that, I will check it out and much as I prefer TomTom to the only other software (built in the car) I have tried I wouldnt buy one that couldnt take Archies.
Having obtained the POIs from the CC & CCC, It was only when I discovered how to put them on the TomTom that I discovered I couldn't. The suggested way was via TomTom Mydrive (web) rather than TomTom connect (app ) and a tongue in cheek translation of the info that came up was : Nah you can't put POIs on the cheap Sat Nav you bought you cheapskate, you can only play that game if you buy one of these much more expensive models, and here is a list of those you should have bought...
Having said that , if I have lifetime European map updates, and all the campsites are already in there, as are supermarkets I discover......... I reserve judgement.

No, the biological sort.

Hi David (Deleted User User) my later TomTom has an ability to add extra memory to overcome that problem. I bought a second memory card that turned out to be not required when I was having problems updating maps. TomTom said it was a memory issue but in fact it was not and I learned they had not checked the box on free lifetime maps on my account when they did some updating. At least I have the extra capacity now if I need it. Regards to Marjorie too, Roy

lik you David, i have the same problem with 'zones' but do not have a laptop where these can be 'fetched' when necessary....they are all on my desktop which stays at home so i have to make the 'zone' decision before we leave...
so far, i have managed to be able to keep to within one zone on each trip, without having to cross zone boundaries...
i do have a backup Tomtom and could put different zones on each one should this become an issue....
