After a break of 5 years ( and 4 grandchildren!!) we are finally returning to France for a Summer Holiday in June this year. We are heading for Séquoia Park in the Poitou Charentes Region. We have been here many years ago and would be interested in any recommendations for 'must see' places and lovely beaches to visit nearby!

We certainly didn't have a digital camera when we were last there but I have attached a few more recent ones from our memory file!!

Are the grandchildren going with you?  It's a high quality, well equipped,  "holiday camp" type of site, geared up to families,  with every thing your grandchildren might want on the site itself. They might not even want to go out, but the zoo at La Palmyre (about 20 miles) might tempt them. The big, wild seas, surfing beach along the Cote Sauvage (about 12 miles) will be exciting if they are old enough - but it's a dangerous coast for small children.

If you yourself can leave the children with parents and sneak away you might like to drool at produce in the indoor food market at Ronce les Bains, have a fishy lunch alongside the harbour at La Tremblade, or stroll around Fouras on market day,and take a boat from there to Napoleon's hideaway on the island of Aix.

Eurotraveller - Thanks for the reply! No the grandchildren are not going with us! We know its a busy site ideal for kids, but we will be on our own celebrating our Ruby Wedding so your suggestions for a lovely lunch out are much appreciated!
