Overnight between San Sebastian and Manilva

My wife and I are travelling to the south of Spain in March with our caravan. We usually take the route via Madrid but would like to try the route via Santander this time.

We are looking for an overnight stop in the Salamanca and Caceres areas - preferably closer to Caceres.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Caceras would fit the bill but there is also Merida with its Roman remains and the chance to visit Caceras and Truilla - though you would need a couple of days to do these visits but well worth it.  The Motorway is free and very quiet down the west route.  AD's suggestion re breaking the route is very sensible and we too usually stop at Burgos if on this route.

Camping Caceres gets my vote, unless there is a football match on in the stadium next door!  Good access from the autopista, but the BIG plus is the individual shower/wc/basin behind each pitch!  and you each have a key!  Check out the ACI rate too.
