Ca' Savio Campsite, Venice
The New Year has dawned and so I'm allowed to consider the summer! I've read the reports for this site on the Club site, but has anyone else anything to add? Any other suggestions for caravan sites in the area would also be welcome. Thinking of June time. Thanks in advance.

We have been to Venice four times staying at Ca Savio once and Miramare three times. I think the choice of site depends on whether you are looking for a place just to park up with easy access to ferries to San Marco or whether you want to combine a beach holiday with the odd access to Venice. As a holiday base perhaps Ca Savio would be better as you have access to the beach and swimming pool/restaurants etc. This would apply to many sites in that area. The village of Ca Savio has most things you would need. There are good bus routes on the main road to the ferry at Punta Sabbioni, or of course you can park although at a charge unless you are there very early. Why we like Miramare is that its a five/ten minute walk to the ferry. It is less like a holiday camp as most people that stay there are in the main using it as a base for Venice and the islands.

As others have said, if you want to spend a lot of time in Venice then Ca' Savio or Marina de Venezia sites are local to the ferries. However, pitch sizes on these sites are relatively small compared to other sites on the coast.
If you're looking for a beach holiday with a host of on-site activities for children and adults plus walking, cycling, good food and large pitches then Camping Capalonga is better. There are day ferries from the site to Venice. All sites along that coast will be busy from 3rd to 17th June (Bavarian school holidays) but they will be relatively quiet from mid June to the 3rd week in July.

Hi Deleted User User - thanks and stored that site already in a folder as a possibility. It will be the furthest point of travel and will be part Venice/coast/Dolomites visit.
Thanks DavidK for the comprehensive reply and the links to the photos - excellent information.
Cheers Dave N - good info re pitch size as ours is a relatively large van. Thanks for the info re Bavarian hols - may well target arriving mid June then. as we're both retired time isn't an issue. Also saved Capalonga page!
Just what I was hoping for Cheers to all the Davids!!
