Archie has now sent me his list of Camping Cheque site changes for 2017.  Sorry it's only France - Archie is celebrating Christmas like the rest of us, and may not have the time to work through his lists.

New Sites

Du Lac - Foix (9)
Le Moulin de Verdagne - Gassin (83)
Biper Gorri - Espelette (64)
Du Gajan *** - Boisseron (34)
Le Clos Tranquille - Saint Cast Le Guildo (22)
Les Quatre Vaulx - Saint Cast Le Guildo (22)
Les Mielles - Saint Cast le Guido
Emeraude - Saint Briac sur Mer (35)
La Crique - Saint Cast Le Guildo (22)
Le Grand Large - Anneville sur Mer (50)

Dropped out for 2017

Blue Bayou**** - Valras Plage
Le Pont d'Avignon**** - Avignon
Municipal Du Lac - Marcillac La Croisille (19)
La Bageasse - Brioude (43)
l'Estuaire - Saint Thomas de Conac (17)
Du Breuil - Bourbon Lancy (71)
Municipal Les Peupliers*** - Montlouis sur Loire
Municipal** - Vittel
Municipal Le Bocage *** - Jugon les Lacs
Le Chateau de Galinee - Saint Cast le Guildo (22)
Municipal**** - Chalons en Champagne
Le Lac des Charmilles - Torigni sur Vire (50)
Le Grand Large - Les Pieux (50)
Etennemare - Saint Valery en Caux (76)
La Source - Hautot sur Mer (76)

So ten new sites, but fifteen dropped out.  Others, on another forum, mention that they have heard that other sites won't be accepting Camping Cheques for 2017 but they are still listed on the website and not included in the above list.   These are Mas de Reihle and Pont de Bourgogne.

Lists for other countries should be available soon.

ACSI, on the other hand, have added 177 new sites to their listings for 2017.

Having read the email from Camping /cheques, it would seem that there will be little difference between /cc and ACSI in future, except that you will be expected to charge your Gold or Silver card with euros in anticipation of spending them on paying for campsites but with no chance of getting your money back if you don't.

A ferry crossing from Plymouth on 23 August  2017 is £364 return for car + Caravan + 2 adults  if booked with Brittany Ferries, £294 if booked with this Club without any Camping Cheques, and £264 from this Club with 5 paper Camping Cheques included. So no need to lay out money loading up a gold or silver card in advance - just throw the paper Cheques away if you can't use them or sell them.

Good news for us as intending to use cheques for 7-10 days at Domaine Soleil.

    In regard to price for BF I recently posted;

Our 2017 trip, Brittany Ferries Plymouth/Rosoff out Thursday night in May and back Sunday morning in June, and the cost of the ferry portion of the fare was £241 including the cabin.

The price booking direct with BF? ................£573 so a saving of £332.

So, after the increased cost of £5, I am still £327 in pocket.

The popular site at Pontorson - Haliotis is no longer shown as accepting cheques for tourers, although are accepting them for mobile homes. I think its another nail in the camping cheque coffin.

I have used them extensively for last 12 years, and only recently used my loyalty points to renew my Gold Card, but can see me using ACSi more often in future.

The Caravan Club appear to have been kept in the dark regarding these changes, as I was told by them in November about the possible 15,17,19 euro system, but they said it wouldn't be starting in 2017.

There are quite a few other sites which are now only acceping 'Cheques'  (or whatever we're now supposed to call them???) in payment for mobile homes.  We've just received our book today, and though it looks the same physical size as previously, I suspect that many of the sites listed are 'mobile home only'.  When I've had time to have a proper look through it, I think that there will be many more sites to add to the list of dropped-out sites.  Even if the sites still accept them for mobile homes, it's not what we on these forums are usually searching for.

And still the CC website in English is only showing prices for 2016.....

Yes, there are many more mobile homes only sites now from what I've gleaned on the Dutch version of CC.  Also more CC sites have gone over to "the other side", which is far simpler to use than having to preload a silver or gold card.

And of course there are also the good old municipals as well!

On the campingcheque uk website, if you click on the drop-down list at the side of the Union Jack (topRH), then select the 'english' at the Globe logo, it comes up with the new map, together with what the new charges are.

Yes, it does now, at last!  Although it beats me why there are 2 English versions; the one with the flag hasn't got the 2017 map and info.

Unfortunately I think that CC are not what they used to be in terms of available sites, with many more now mobile only and others gone over to ACSI.

Thanks for the info as I have been able to confirm that the site I hope to use is still in the scheme.

Having looked at the new Camping Travel Club directory, I see that there are now only 35 touring sites in Spain taking Camping Cheques. Last year there were 42 ACSI have 256 sites in Spain..2017 will see the end of the Camping Cheque as we have come to know it and the choice in future will be either do you pay 28€ every 3 years to join CC or do you pay about 14€ a year to join  ACSI? With a similar pricing structure it remains to be seen if CC will show any advantage over ASCI or any benefit at all.

Thanks Landyrover. I am afraid I know very little about Spain, but do know that in France there are still about 8000 campsites which are not members of either Camping Cheques or ACSI discount schemes.

I have got a rough idea of eight or ten of those sites we will probably visit on a summer tour this year - and frankly won't be bothering with either of the two mass marketing schemes. I can choose where I go without them.

The Club's Touring France guide gives me a lot more choice than either of the other two, and CampingFrance.com throws up a good few more hidden hideaways too. All affordable - and all available in mid summer too. I love the fact that thousands of other people stick to ACSI.

Indeed, Deleted User User, there are 42 listed in the CC brochure but only 35 of them are touring sites, the rest are rental sites, many belong to a chain called Tohapi , which also runs many of the rental sites in France. Is this perhaps Kawan by another name?

A useful newcomer to the Camping Cheques list is Camping Riva Bella (aka Les Pommiers) close by the Caen ferry port at Ouistreham, which is accepting Cheques until 7 July 2017, and again in the autumn.

As many Club members going that way off peak will have some paper Cheques as part of a package with their ferry ticket from the Club here is an opportunity to use one.
