Opening posts being repeated
There may be a CC reason for this, but IMO there is a lot of space on the forum wasted on pages by repeating and repeating the Opening Post at the top of each subsequent page.
After all if somebody wants to refer to the opening post, it is only a one second job to go to the beginning of the Thread.
At a time when the forum management only allow thumbnails instead of proper photographs to be posted to save storage space on the system, they waste space on repeating the same post ad infinitum on each page of the thread.

It gets my vote too.
One second to go to the start of the thread and then navigate your way back again? I wish! The forum is now the slowest I've ever known it.

I think its a good idea as it should help keeping the discussion on topic.

I also agree it's a good idea and should make it easier to keep posts relevant to the OP. Too often in the past threads have gone astray either due to deliberate hijacking or ill thought out posts having nothing to do with the OP. No excuses now!

Ah, That's it,. ---------The CC reason I mentioned in the OP has now become obvious. The age demographic of the average CC member requires that constant reminders are required ( The old "what did I do a few minutes ago, I can't remember" syndrome)
Other forums have no need to keep repeating what the thread is about, their posters read the OP then actually remember what to discuss, even if it's days later. Or they just refer to the original post on page one of the thread. ----------- Simples !!
So I accept that as far as the CC is concerned, they have a really good reason to repeat the OP on all subsequent pages.

Repeating or not repeating the OP makes no difference to storage requirements, in terms of disc space on the web sever, the post is only stored once in the relevant database. The only cost is a small amount of processing overhead retrieving it for display on each new page.

Oddly each thread has a title which is displayed on every page....apart from the odd silly title (Help!) they generally indicate the subject!
When the first post is a full page long it simply adds to the amount of scrolling required.
Why does this forum have to be different, for the worse, to all other forums?
Presumably it will never compete with the grown ups websites

I'm happy to see the OP at the top of each page but much less happy when I hit the "Like" button and get tossed back to page one of the thread. Dog's Dinner comes to mind. :-(

It does however make a huge difference to the users, for whom the forum is allegedly provided. Repeating the first post with every subsequent page require more data to be sent, and on mobile devices most users have to pay to receive this.
Also wasteful is the initial listing of posts where six lines are used when one will suffice, and every single burp and fart on the thread gets a six line mention when a single line about a new post is all that is needed. Who is interested in which users "likes" which post? Only those brought up on Facebook is my guess.
So to conserve my data allowance I'm not visiting the forum from mobile devices any more to save money. (their loss). And anyway, after a few pages the original topic has moved on. That is how humans discuss in normal social interaction. Are we being lined up for a squad of new moderators to remove posts that 98 pages and five years later are "off topic" for the original post?
