I knew Santa had been when I opened the curtains and saw the big pile of Reindeer poo on our front lawn. Either that or the guy with the Dobermann has run out of poo bags again. I hope Santa filled his stocking.surprised

We thought it was great and appreciated the humour in it. Perhaps it;s a northern thing. Maggie Smith was brilliant!! Definitely a film I'd watch again, and I'm not a film type of person.

Did you watch it on BBC, NTH or did you see it when it first came out in the cinema?

Nice to see you and everyone else back on here, trikyauto. I hope you had a lovely Christmas Day! I missed you when I was posting earlier. I guess everyone was too busy with their family festivities so I ended up being the only one posting on here.

I know what you mean, triky. In the afternoon we went to visit my cousin and collect our mail at the same time. We couldn't help noticing that everything we passed by was closed, even petrol stations. So I just hope no-one runs out of fuel on Christmas Day!

Amongst the mail was the log book for the new car. I only completed the purchase of the car on Thursday so I was surprised to get it so quickly!

That seems familiar, robsail. I remember how Christmas presents always used to be socks and handkerchieves. We broke that tradition by treating ourselves to a new car this Christmas! With the roads empty on Christmas Day, it was a pleasure to drive it! A bit too big to fit under the Christmas tree though!

I'll second that, Oneputt. We certainly had a very peaceful Christmas Day with no family to visit us! It was just the two of us! We visited my cousin in the afternoon and he was on his own too with just the tv for company. So it was nice to see him and have a chat. We didn't stay too long as we wanted to get back to the caravan before it got dark. I'd had enough of driving in darkness when at work. Nice to see daylight and scenery for a change!

No NTH, couldn't have been a 'Northern Thing' as we thought it was really funny too.  I thought that the book managed to get the humour over better than the film though.....

Perhaps I should have read the book before watching the movie, I might have understood it better. It might been better on the big screen in the cinema with better quality sound and images than on a small portable caravan tv!

It seems I'm getting duplicated again! It seems to be the new forum's answer to the blank page. One problem disappears and another problem emerges. Can this one be fixed? And what does the p mean at the bottom?

The sun has risen here and it looks like a nice sunny morning. Hopefully, the fuel station will be open today as I need to fill the tank of the new car. We also plan to do some shopping st the Tesco Extra supermarket in Durrington.

It was as near a "day off" yesterday as it gets on a dairy farm.

Christmas Eve was mostly spent doing as much as possible to make Christmas Day easier. And by getting up at 4.45 am morning work was done by 8.15. Then nothing to do, except open presents, eat, drink and fall asleep until 3 pm and afternoon milking. Back in the house by 6.30 pm and relaxing in front of the fire and television. Loved Doctor Who, but a bit unmoved by the Strictly Christmas Special.

My super human hearing came in useful at 3 am this morning when I heard noises from the barn - a gate had come open and cows were wandering round the back of our house. A case for (almost) the Midnight Cowboys.

We stayed over at our daughter's last night at Upper Hulme near Leek - about 200yds from the entrance to Blackshaw Moor Caravan Club Site.  The site is well and truly locked up for the winter. smile

We passed by Northbrook Farm Club site on our way to Tesco and that too was well and truly locked up for the winter, David. We've got a seasonal pitch there for 2017 so we're looking forward to when they re-open in March.

Have a nice day at your daughters. No doubt there must be plenty of leftover turkey for you to enjoy!

We're using some of our leftover turkey to make a fried rice dish for lunch and we're having some turkey soup to go with it. We also bought some crispy sweet and sour chicken whilst in Tesco.

We filled up our new car fuel tank whilst there. It cost just £26 of unleaded to fill the tank compared to £84 to fill the Shogun with diesel! A huge cost saving!

Was snowing this morning - Now the sky is very dark and the torrential rain is almost horizontal.  We are having a quiet day after yesterday's celebrations.

It will soon be time for the afternoon dog walk, so hope the rain eases a bit.

    Cheers .....................K

Happily  I've  thawed  out  after  my  stroll  round

Shackerley  Mere  this  lunch-time.  It  was  a  lot

like  a  cross  between  the  motorway  &/or  Crufts

Dog  Show  !!  There  were  mutts  everywhere  and

they  had  'minders'  in  approximately  equal  numbers,

and  all  of  them  greeting  everybody  &  just  strolling

to  scrape  off  an  illicit  pound  or  three  !

The  country  lanes  were  well  packed  with  cars  'cos

the  hunt  was  meeting  near  the  Greyhound  Pub,

but  everybody  was  playing  nicely  --  space  for  thro'

traffic,  no  gates  blocked  and  all  motors stopping

to  allow  each  horse  &  rider  plenty  of  room  to  pass.

All  in  all  it  was  a  fine  display  of  "Good  will  to

all  men"    innocent.  Hope  you  had  at  least  as  pleasant

an  experience  as  I,  on  this  brilliant  sunny  but  cold

    Boxing  Day  Walk.

    Biee  for  now  !

Just out of interest are you composing your posts in MS Word by any chance and pasting them into the forum reply box as they all appear double spaced and in bold?
