The xmas bells are 68k BB, but they're not really there. They're on my Microsoft 'onedrive' with an active link. I've used the 'peedee' method: enter a bit of text, then drag and drop a photo from an open 'cloud' photo storage. It's a mystery how it works as it wasn't possible on the old website! (next photo is 600 pixels wide)
Recognize this spot BB?

I also believe this to be the case. Also, although you can get away with one large image. It will not load more than one or two of this size.
Holding on the image and selecting open in new tab prevents the need to scroll. On an iPad at least.

I thought that I had the system beaten with posting photos from Onedrive and Google - not so, it appears. Captain Cook and my Xmas bells have gone! My photo of the town hall at La Croix Valmer remains, somehow. I may just give up and retire gracefully from CT.

The nonsense of the situation is that people have to be inventive in order to get a decent size picture to display. The method can't, it seems be universally applied, you seem to have to use a certain type of photo storage and certain type of picture program. Let's hope they can adjust the way photos are inserted into the forum as yet again it seems far to complicated. My view is that they should remove the five maximum photos allowed and move the "add photos" function to the menu bar above the text box. As photos have a URL they are not stored , or take up memory on the forum so they should appear the full width of the posting pane rather than appearing as a thumbnail. They should be automatically resized to posting pane width. It would be interesting to know what stands in the way of the Club achieving this?

Hope you don't mind my asking but I find it interesting to know how/why things do/don’t work.
Would your method mean that each poster could add as many photos on these discussions as they wish & they would all show 1 after the other or would it be the URL one would have to click on & the photo would then be automatically resized before showing in the discussion?
As you can probably tell I have little knowledge & had to follow chasncath’s instructions using paint to resize etc. which worked for me as well as teaching me how to use paint which I had never even looked at before. Method later posted by Rochelle.

Presumably though David if they did away with the five photos and went to a URL based system, this would involve a cloud based storage system. I would prefer not to use this method but insert the photos direct from my pad, as the five picture method allows. By all means have both options available, but please don't do away with the direct input feature.

Unfortunately Steve thereby lies the problem. If we are always uploading photos from our computers, even if limited to five, it will eventually clog up the system as everything has to be loaded onto the Club Together server. The URL system only places a link onto the forum and space is only used temporarily whilst the photo is in viewed. I could go along with the limit of five pictures if it only applied to those photos directly uploaded but would prefer the option of being able to post using both methods. It seems that in order to enable people to upload from Apple devices they have thrown the baby out with the bath water? I have in mind the Story Section where being to load photos into the actual text of the story is an enhancement which has been removed. I have tried some of the other methods that people have been experimenting with but they don't work for me.

How things do/don't work on this forum is a mystery to most of us
See my post above in reply to Steve's post. The number of posts have been limited to five because they are actually loaded onto the Club server, not really a sensible thing in the long term in my view despite restrictions on size. If the site is set-up to accept URL's sometimes it allows just thumbnails which can be clicked on to show a full image or alternatively they immediately show the photo full size. On some forums this can be a problem if automatic resizing is not in place as it tends to expand the width of the forum depending on the size of the photo. One could argue that the new system for photos is marginally better than the old as it does not discriminate and the majority of systems can be used to upload photos which is an improvement but at the moment I think the jury is out as whether that is as big an improvement as was hoped!

I agree with DK: a universal method of inserting photos of page width into Discussions and Stories from on-line photo-storage would be very desirable. I've used several combinations of browser and storage with mixed success - I now can't remember which was which! Some photos have stayed in place whereas others have vanished after 24 hours or so. Flickr and Firefox combination seems to most dependable.
The new direct-from-PC photo uploading could continue alongside a CT approved on-line method. However, the new PC system gives poor image quality. Having logged in today on Cath's iPhone, I am now of the opinion that the new format for CT has been designed for smart phone users by young smart phone users who view the world via Facebook and similar.

It's improved for me because I store photos on my PC and now, apart from re-sizing it's easy to add photos. I don't store anything elsewhere, I lost all my music on cloud a few years ago! I can't see anyone's photos on my Galaxy phone or OH's HTC, even the Avatars are only partially visible. I've no idea how all of this was set up and tested as it certainly seems to work for some and not others across a whole range of devices. My phone is not the latest version but previously I could see everything on the CC web site easily and clearly, I can't now and the lap top is the easiest to use.

Not been there. Might have to get the OH to plan it in sometime as we like taking walks especially if you can walk direct from site. Glad your photo stayed on your post. I did wonder when it didn't appear on my quote but looked back to your original & it was stil there thank goodness..
