Winter sites in Spain where no car is needed
I'm looking for suggestions for coastal sites between Valencia and Almeria where you don't need a car to get into the local town (ideally no more than 2km). The sites need to be open in winter and be suitable for a motorhome nearly 8 metres in length.
All suggestions would be gratefully received.

There are the two Marjal sites, Marjal Costa Blanca is a bit out in the sticks but Marjal Guardemar is not too badly located. Both are excellent sites. I've tried to get a pitch at Camping Calpemar twice now without sucess, I think people just book up one year after another but it is nicely located in an interesting area. With an 8 metre motorhome you would certainly have to book there because I understand most of their pitches are quite small?

You could try the Lo Monte site. It is a fairly new site situated at the back on Torre de la Horadada, about 3/4 mile from the sea front and centre of the village. There is a supermarket and bars about 400 yards away and Pilar de la Horadada is about 2 miles away

We overwinter at Marjal Costa Blanca. It's not near the coast but a cycle ride takes you into the local town called Catral which has all the amenities of a modern Spanish town.
For me Bonterra ticks all of your boxes, you can't beat a mercadona across the road and the via verde cycle track that takes you safely to Castellon. Camping Azahar just up the road will have space but it is a bit "rustic".
Lo Monte is nice but you'll be lucky to get in for any length of time. We looked around last week and it's pretty rammed, only a few acsi pitches left.
There are a couple of sites in Peniscola that are worth a look nice walking and cycling with town on the doorstep, also have a look at Camping Moraira, a vibrant town with nice shops a walk away, we spent a month there last year and loved it.
If you want to try further south, have a look at camping Cabopino it's between Marbella and Fuengirola, 5 minutes to the bus stop and 20 minute walk to the beach. We've spent two winters there, very pleasant, going next week for a few days. Camping Marbella Playa is also good for a couple of weeks.
A lot of the popular sites on coastal Spain have space this winter, not sure why as last year everywhere was full with motorhomes lining the streets with now where to go.

There is an ACSI camper stop just off the motorway to the west of Valencia (sorry cannot remember the name) and there is a train about 5 minutes walk from the site. Nothing really in the village but access to Valencia is really good. Camper stop is okay & our 8m van fits on without problem. We stopped 1 night to check it out for next year.
Another camper stop called Area Narejos at Los Alcazares in Murcia. Excellent location for the beach & shops very close & the town is a very pleasant walk along a beautiful prom. Airport noise from the adjacent part time military/commercial airport at San Javier but location makes up for this for us. Amazed no one has mentioned Benidorm yet, at least five sites to choose from and just round the corner is Cap Blanch in Albir which is right on the sea front with an easy walk into Altea and there is also two new sites in nearby Villajoyosa. We live close to Guardamar and the two sites there Marjal and La Marina are really nice and there is a couple of aires next to Lidl/Iceland. Forget Lo Monte some people book there for up to ten years in advance and is always full till April, Calpe is another we visit for the weekend now and again and if you can't get on the campsite there is at least three aires close by. The site west of Valencia is called Betera and is run by a top local guy and well worth a visit for a couple of days with the lovely city of Valencia close by.

How about Camping La Bahia at Santa Pola, near Alicante, we stayed there last year, lots of over winters but they may have space and its an easy 5 minute walk into town. Its in the ACSI book sorry don't have it with me so can't give you the number.
