We are going in July and plan to go Harwich to Hook of Holland then down thru Germany, Austria, Slovenia and into Croatia. There are numerous threads on here with suggested routes if you search. Not firmed up our exact route yet and some will depend on what port you are going from/to, but we plan on stops in Salzburg, and Lake Bled and some overnight in Germany.
If you are over 3.5t then you need a Go Box in Austria and you have to have a certificate of conformity to prove the engine Euro emission class e.g. 5, 5+ (Classed as Class 6) or 6.

Malcolm. We are going there end May for 5 weeks. Our planned route is:
Tunnel
Belgium
Luxemburg
Germany (to Salzburg as we want a few days in Salzgamagut area)
Austria
Slovenia
Croatia
This route is toll free until we have to get a Vignette in Austria and one for Slovenia. Fill up in Luxemburg and then Austria. Just draw a line from Calais to Trieste and this route would appear to be the most straightforward. Others may have different routes which I await with interest.
Wow. Others were quick! (Edit)

Here's a link to a previous thread in which we described our toll-free scoot through Slovenia to Croatia!

Interested in what NH's are suggested in Germany. We are doing HofH then Germany, Austria and Slovienia, in June. Saltzburg and Lake bled are the main aims and maybe Vienna.
How much is the Vignette for Slovienia? And can you get it like the Austrian one at a garage?

We also will be heading to Slovenia next year, because of where we want to go outward onroute it will be via Belgium, Stuttgart, Munich, Salzburg to Lake Bled and returning via Vienna and easter Germany.
Vignette for Slovenia for us towing is 15€ (week) or 30€ for a month and all fuel stations sell them close to the border0 -
Our MH is over the 3.5t so we needed a go box which I bought at a services on the Fern Pass. We tried to use as few tolls as possible because they were expensive using the go box. Unfortunately the photos have not migrated in the stories section but if you really wanted to see our route and stops if you checked in my stories and scrolled to April to June 2015 you will see stories from all our stops and get details of the route we took. Briefly going south. Calais, Belgium & stopped in Germany for 2 stops before arriving at Fussen for a few nights. Then Fern pass and to Innsbruck for a few nights. Non toll Brenner old road into Italy then back into Austria to stop in the Dolomites before stopping for a good few nights on Osssiach See. Then toll roads through Karawacken Tunnel into Slovenia & stop at Ljubljana for a few nights (a big must). Then non toll straight south to Croatia and to Krk. From there we toured around Istria and then back on toll motorway to Lake Bled for 2 nights. Then almost toll free via Italy and into Austria & directly north from Lienz stopping near the German border. Germany to Luxembourg for a few nights then France & Calais.
It is much more difficult now to find the stories but here is a link to the end of mine so you could scroll backwards. No it isn't! it just goes to my profile & you will have to select the stories manually Hopefully one day all these little things will get back to like they were pre the new forum.
Regards, Roy

Sounds wonderful - how long did all this take you?

Hi Beverley12. We generally travel for 60 nights camping on the continent which fits in easily with our annual travel insurance policy which is geared up for multiple holidays up to 60 nights at a time. We try to do this twice a year and then spend some time in the UK too, but it is the warm weather that keeps us going abroad and new places to explore.
It used to be easier to track my stories and they all had photos but if you look at any now, then if there are photos attached, they are not mine so dont read the story and try to find where the photos relate to Regards, Roy
