My husband and I have just returned from Maragowan at Killin and had a fabulous time!

It was a beautiful site and the weather was brilliant, topped off with superb Olympic coverage on the TV made a great holiday.

However, we have noticed that not only on this site but on a few others we have visited in the past that some of the people on site whether arriving with their caravans, motorhomes or indeed just generally coming or going-there were an awful lot driving far too fast

The suggested 5mph at the entrance was taken on board by most but not by enough-and on numerous occasions my husband and I had conversations about what if a child came out from a caravan at 20-30 mph a car would find it difficult to stop

Wardens should be able to have a quiet word with these people ignoring the suggested speed limit before an accident happens !!!

I would like to hear your thoughts about this.

most sites seem to suffer from this and not just club sites I do not know an answer mor sleping policemen ?the wardens have enough to do with out extra policing come on members do think it could be your child or dog or even YOU.

I agree the wardens are busy but ultimately they are in charge of the site-if I felt it would do I any good I would speak to the offenders myself -but would probably get shouted down or told to mind my own business but, these people should take responsibility
for driving in a busy area

Did you notice if it was new arrivals or departures that were speeding? I must admit that I am guilty of breaking the 5mph limit at these times but after unwinding and in between I stick to the limit. I wonder if it's with the hustle and bustle of getting
in at the start and then away at the end that speeding is a problem? Not that that's an excuse.

yes i agree there are a lot speeding is a problem on site we are on our august tour this year we r doin wales am at moment on our third site on the west coast of wales have been to tewksbury which was very good and speeding did not seem to be problem there,
then moved to 1 of our favourate sites freshwater east and there quite a few insisted in useing first gear and speeding down the hill near the second toilet block. But the thing I found most frightening was the bikes and scooters used by both adults and children
saw 2 falls by children over the speed bump at the bottom of ramp, and also  if cars have to go slow why not the bicycles saw 1 young child race down that hill pass a car going slow and inbetween me as well and i was on foot what would have happened if he
came off at that bump and under the car , or hit me because i have bad mobility. So please parents instill into your children to take care on site and drivers keep your speed down how would you feel if it was your child or if you god forbid hit your own child
    while spedding on site .

KEEP YOUR SPEED DOWN AND SAVE UPSET.

On arrival members should have to purchase a Caravan Pennant on a stick and a member of the party should then walk in front of the vehicle waving it at all times LOL

I try and stick to the speed limit but with an automaric in 1st gear it still sometimes gets to 10 mph even if I'm not touching the accelerator.   But I would agree that there are a lot of people out there who I'm sure just ignore the signs.   On a site
we at recently I'm sure there were a few drivers who must have been doing close to thirty mph as they drove to their vans.   I should also say that the site was quite full and there were a lot of children about

We find this is a problem on most sites. Some people just don't think of the implications of speeding and completely flout the rules. Godrevy CCS in Cormwall has a board just inside the entrance where they post the registration numbers of cars that have
been reported for speeding. I don't know if it works but it certainly puts the offenders to shame!

the wardens at ferry meadows were telling children off for going so fast on their bikes!  A child had been taken to the local A&E after an accident on her bike!  the parents in the cars should know better, saying that though i bet they are those that speed
whilst towing as well!?  caravanning is slow hence the speeds!!!!!!

its the same on all the sites some think it is a race track, and the speed bumps even at slow speed aggravate my back problem, name and shame might be better or removal from the site for constant offenders
