I have just returned to caravaning after a 25+ year break and have now done our first trip. I started using CT to ask a few questions and have had some great help from some members, Thank you for the help.

I must say though that there seems to be a few on here that are quite intolerante of newbies to the point of rudeness.in my opinion.and this is very off putting, I think in every post (apart from my introduction one) I have participated in there has been
at least one reply relating to my post which I feel is just dam rude/arrogant.

Not too sure I will continue on here at the moment?

Just how I see it ?

Like most things in life, Milo, the minority end up spoiling it for the majority. There are indeed one or two on CT who appear to be rude but in the main it is a good source of information and most participants are friendly and helpful. Just turn the other
    cheek would be my advice.

It is also very interesting to observe the difference that annonymity engenders.

The C&CC forum reguires the use of real names, and (so far) everything is conducted in a polite and cordial manner.

Maybe with the C&CC there is just not enough members posting , the other night there were only 3 members on line ,and one of those was meSurprised

Ian, please keep posting. I've had wonderful advice from other CT members via this forum, also friendly chats and a bit of banter. Just ignore the posts you don't like!

Keep reading and posting Milo. The majority on here are very helpful and seem to be good decent people.

MTD, look at it from this angle-how many posters seemed supportive/were positive/gave good advice?, compare them to the 'neg(s)' CT is not unique in the Trolls it attracts. Ignore the negs & rejoice in the positives. Keep on keeping on, that way you winHappy.
By bailing you reduce the positivity that can be posted.

Yes, very true.  It is difficult to know whether annonimity is a factor in that or not.  Certainly the number of forum members has  grown a lot recently, but this hasn't translated into active contributers, perhaps because of this.

One thing I have noticed - and disapprove of - is a tendency to post the
    identical
query on both CC and C&CC at the same time.
(Fair enough to ask on one, and if no satisfactory reply received, then post on the other a few days later).

Write your comments here...Vic, what is the problem in asking the same question on two forums? It could be that the poster is trying to get as many views as possible.

I was going to ask the same, JD. I think, though, it's a shame to let Milo's thread go off topic.

Vic,  the majority of posters on here are OK. There are a few, no more than around five, whose posts give new members the wrong impression of the forum.  Just carry on posting, ignore those troublemakers, ---- the rest of us do,  ----enjoy the forum.

    Cheers.  K

Kennine I agree. However the original poster has himself asked for advice two days ago and has received several replies, non of which he has responded to.

Some may think this is also rude. Just my thoughts on the situation.

Milo - I would urge you to stick with CT which is overwhelmingly a positive and friendly forum. I've met many fellow members and they are without exception focused on our shared hobby of caravanning (or MHing), friendly and sociable and great to know.

The problem with forums like this is that occasionally a post may read as rude where no offense was intended - the written word comes over very differently to what one might experience in conversation face to face.

There are just a very small number of posters who deliberately seem to set out to cause bad feeling and these are easily identified. This is the same with any forum. Just put it down to bad manners and rise above it, I say.

Enjoy your vanning and enjoy the company of like minded folk on the forum. Happy

Just a thought, Milo. Keep a look out for smileys. If a post sounds odd but is littered with HappyLaughingWink it
will be humorous and well intentioned in the main. Unfortunately there are one or two people who use them as a double bluff but you'll soon work out their true intent.

Thank you so far everyone. It's not that I can't stand up for myself its just so unnecessary for people to be like that.

I could respond but would then be no better than them as some of you suggest and run the risk of getting in to bother with the admin of the forum.

As regards our first trip out, the Van was perfect, it tow's very well behind our FL2 and is very cosy & comfortable, and am very pleased we went for the fixed bed layout..

I agree Ian. It's much more convenient and comfortable having a fixed bed. Ours is a transverse bed and the only difficulty with it is that the passageway at the foot of the bed is too narrow.

It's nice to know that your first trip went well. Have you planned your next trip yet?

Write your comments here... We do have the next one planned (East Anglia) to meet up with friends from Norfolk with their van. It won't be until Spring though as other commitments (house bound 91 year old parent lives with us) have to be worked around.

Write your comments here...Have you thought about the Caravan Club National in Sandringham for the Bank Holiday weekend at the end of May 2017? That might be worthwhile for you if you like the Norfolk area. We've already booked for it and looking forward
    to it.

Write your comments here...We have seen it advertised but the trouble is I have another hobby/interest. I have a 1973 Triumph Stag that I did a full restoration on in 2009 and we attend many car shows and events with the car.(mainly over weekends) towing the caravan with it is not an option either as its towing limit is about 1220kgs our caravan comes in at just over 1400 max weight. Plus being 43 years old I think it is a big ask of itLaughing

We are both retired (early) and are amazed how busy we are and wouldn't have the time to have a job now Happy.

Sorry if this is going off thread a little.
