the title of this forum is"club together" if you are not a member of the "club" it really should not be any body elses business, the whole concept is for members to swap and change ideas, discussions, etc its a bit like letting a non member on a club site
but wave the non member fee because hes a nice bloke or hes been here before, members only please

I'm a Club member, have been for over 25 years, but it doesn't say so on my profile photo.

    Moderator Edit:

Perhaps it might be a suggestion that you make contact with the club to have your status amended below your avatar.

Thanks, will do, will try to anyway!

Newbie non-members should be subject to moderation for the first ten posts. That would dissuade the spammers.

They seem to use the same illogic as they do on site, where you can use the Wifi for CT without paying. I would ban both this and non members posting.

My understanding is that the Club decided that they would allow non-members to contribute to Club Together as a means of encouraging non-members to join and I understand that initially this was quite successful, I don't know if that is still the situation.
What we have to be careful of is basing decision on a few SPAM posts forcing decisions. We have been pretty  successful at cutting out SPAM and todays incidence is now fortunately very rare. The question that should be answered is there anything on this forum
that requires the confidentiallity that prevents non members joining in?

    David

Write your comments here...presumably though the cist of supporting it I'd taken from the £48 membership fee we all pay so why should do non members use it?  On other forums you can view stuff but not take part until you oay your fees so why not here?

I'm only a user of IT, but once the wbsite is up and running is there an additional cost for non members using it?

I suppose there's the cost of maintaining the forum, but given the current state of the forum that may not be a very big cost.

I've no problem with non-member contributors even when they are old 'friends' under new names
    Wink

I do think that pre moderation of newbie posts would be sensible and it may help to prevent queries going in the middle of threads discussing other things or in the wrong section.

I wonder why the posts Jill had to remove hadn't been pre-moderated as was the inteneded CC action following the previous massive spam invasions. Did someone think it was all ok, it clearly isn't.

Both Jay and Brue have made good points about pre-moderation of early posts from Newbies.

Most forums surely keep an eye on posts from newcomers, whether by pre-moderation or simply general observation. Human observation works so well.

Doubt it is breed specific, probably more to do with being well trained, not biting the hand that feeds? Wink

Write your comments here...You could be right Sir -- I had never though of that before.  I did wonder about the cryptic post earlier involving "Training and not biting the hand"  from one of that particular forum's moderators.  SurprisedSurprised

As regards the thread title, In my opinion only those who are paid up members of the CC should have posting rights on the CC forum which they by their annual fees are financing.

By all means allow non CC members to have read-only rights.

    Cool

TTDA Apologies, I had been misinformed,Embarassed However a bit of cyber job promotion, even for a few minutes can't do anybody any
    harm.

When TW received his promotion to moderator within that other forum there was also another member promoted, Obviously now we know that it wasn't your good self.

The main reason for my post was to ask you to clarify for the rest of us your statement to another poster, HD  -- Quote  "probably more to do with being well trained, not biting the hand that feeds?

Oh I much prefer more local papers OP, Yorkshire Post. We always buy local papers if away, good for events and local things!

Back to forum membership, I am in the read but not post camp for none members. You can make a decision then on whether or not it is for you, and join or not on that basis. Not sure which way CT will go if the new website comes on line. Would be better to
keep Club membership (bookings, payments, other aspects of membership) separate from CT.
