Just read Valda's informative thread on the floodings in France. A perfect riposte to K's suggestion!
Write your comments here...You will have noticed of course that on my last post of page 5 , the last paragraph read Quote :- " So I say, let the non- CC posters stay on The CC member's Forum until the CC decide otherwise". unquote This is in consideration of the fact that nice helpful people like Valda could have been adversely affected. This change in heart was a result of re-reading DK's post of earlier on the thread.
If the CC was to make an exception of Valda it stands to reason that the outsiders would have to be included in that exception. Hence the sentence in Bold above
This is the beauty of discussions. People have different opinions, and sometimes points can be originally missed.

And sometimes, unexpectedly, posters can change their minds. Which is good, all for the best.

Hi all , I thought Kennine,s post was a good one as in the right circumstances promotes a healthy debate , whatever the subject , I do however think that Kennine is admirable in the fact He changed His view and I respect Him for that . So many times on different
forums people will fight to the bitter end on promoting their view and will not relent even if they are totally wrong and beaten by proven facts . I am not a Caravan Club member , but joined the forum to read and reply to different posts and I have seen People
ask for help when away on site . Unfortunately I have not been able to answer the questions , but if I could I would have spent all afternoon looking for answers for them to resolve their problems . I don't know but am guessing the Forum part of the Caravan
Club site does not cost a lot as many people in many jobs have secondary responsibilities to carry through different tasks to make things work . It's a good site , some good replies to questions posed and a good source of informationPaul

To be fair to Kennine, and to thank Malcolm Mehta who has a very good memory, we used to be members and indeed I was originally a 'Champion' (ie one of the original team who answered queries, welcomed new people and tried to instigate discussions - but didn't 'Moderate'.). However, because we now store our caravan in France, we can no longer take advantage of Caravan Club sites, or ferry discounts, or Red Pennant, and as we're pensioners on limited income we decided that the cost of our subscription would be better spent on a couple of meals out with wine in France, where we now have a holiday home.
However, I am still a loyal 'ex-member'.
My own feeling is that if we don't allow non-members to access and contribute to the forum we are losing those people as potential members of the Caravan Club in the future. People want to think they are welcome to ask questions, find reassuring answers, and be welcomed by people who are already members. Exclusive 'societies' tend to go to the wall eventually, as people get fed up talking to themselves................!
I have to say, that you have to actually ask for your membership status to be changed. It doesn't automatically change if you don't renew your subscription. Perhaps that's something the CC staff should look at in the 'Updated software'!!!??? There may well be other people who are no longer members, but haven't requested that their status be changed.

Good point " The Broons" -- Makes one wonder why the CC doesn't change the banner under the Avatar from Member to Non-Member when someone leaves the CC or does not renew their annual fee. Or indeed if someone joins the forum while not ever being a CC member.
