I visit 3 other caravan forums, read alot and post infrequent where I think I can add value. I have been a member of this forum from nealy the start but in the past 6/12 month it has become quite a nasty forum at times

I must say the sniping on this forum between posters is probably the worst I have come across, and in the real world would be classed as bullying in some instances.

I dont know how the site is moderated but it does seam that people can get away with alot of atacking and post drift because of these personal atacks and sniping. It also will put alot of people from posting for fear of getting the same treatment off the
same people.

I agree with you OP. I had a break from CT for quite a while but got involved with the Broadway issue and seem to be back again.

It's not a friendly place at times

Write your comments here...Good post Kevin. You are correct. This forum is infamous for threads being hijacked. I also agree that the little gang known as the "usual suspects" have a posting style of personal insults when  any poster does not agree with them. ----Best just to ignore them.

The mods do their best. But as volunteers have not the time to read every thread.

I find these sort of comments rather strange. Just like the complaints about Twitter and Facebook, or bad TV programmes. All these sites / devices have an off button.

All forums fluctuate, sometimes good, sometimes bad, so if one deteriorates go to another!

The cycle time seems to be about 3 to 5 years!

At least this one is free even though 90% ot the pages are filled by 4 or 5 regulars!

The moderators work within the Guidelines and T&C's set out by the Community Manager. We do intervene if things get out of hand and threads are sometimes closed or posts Deleted User as a result of that intervention but there has got to be a balance in there somewhere. I suspect if you are an infrequent visitor then you might miss lots of things that happen which might illustrate the action that has been taken. As a member of the forum you do have the option to use the Report button if you feel something has not been dealt with correctly.

I think the forum is drifting in places and there is some pointless bickering in threads like Sunday Departures which isn't very inviting to read.

As has been said there is an "off" button both on here and in your own ability to click off and not respond...which I do.Undecided

I only read and contribute the the threads that I am interested in and like and I don't bother with the others.  As well as the argumentative few here are also some very nice, friendly people on here.  I just ignore the others.

It wasnt so much a complaint but a comment based on my experience of the site, i find it sad when threads get lost in bickering, why should I switch off, if I see a thread im interested in ill start to read then all of a sudden off it goes kicking off, thats
when I go off to something else but it looses the thread which may have been very informative.

I dont do face book or twitter, never have never will

Ultimately none of us are responsible for the forum (although what we contribute can affect the general appearance and enjoyment of it) so the "off" button is the only way out sometimes. I really hope the new web site will bring improvements all round.

Don't use the off button ,that is a result for the the clique. Milly has the answer just skip the posts of the "You know who"

There are only a few of them and they are easy to recognise .

They won't stop but if they are just repeating the same old stuff between themselves they may eventually get frustrated.

Make up your own avatar for your particular favorites. They won't be flattering but it makes them more fun to recognise

One lady who has irritated me would certainly sue if she saw her new avatar.

What on earth has some unfortunate female done that's irritated you, Bob? Do tell!  Cool

I'm not sure I can see the point of assigning avatar pics for your own amusement but, if it keeps you happy, why not?Happy

I read through posts and if I am interested or have something to contribute I will - if I am not interested I move on.   There are many topics I like reading the banter between people but would be fearful of commenting as can be daunting.   We are our own
person if you dont like what you read move on and leave them to it.   I am sure it is all good banter and said tongue in cheek.  However I do believe some people start a topic and comment just to cause trouble.

It so easy to ignore the dark side of forums, on this one it is the personal insults against an individual which appears to be the only reason that the little gang of the" Usual Suspects" post.

But there are good people on here who enjoy posting their opinions and expect others might not support those opinions but accept that we are all different and respect everybodys right to post honest opinions.

    K Smile

So my advice is , just ignore the "Usual Suspects" gang and enjoy the forum.  ----- I do.
