corners , have you ever changed your view on a subject because of a well presented post ??

i had my views on solar panels changed because of the posts on here !

Yes, when someone brings up something I hadn't thought about, or a new way of doing things. Like Ian's brialliant way of winding the EHU cable

Where did I say that? Blimey, I can't even remember things I've said, never mind what others have said.......you weren't kidding about that word document / stalker notebook, were you?

So, please tell us, Arty (Boo, not the other one), has anything you've read here removed your nervousness about posting? As you can see, the vast majority of people believe it's OK to disagree as long as it's done with respect. Most people here are decent
    and polite.

Write your comments here...  Hi Tinny, I am not nervous per-se however, the forum DOES get a little heated now and again over what SOME might see as trivia. I am not a shrinking violet by any means and if I feel strongly enough I will comment. Often, I just
want to write 'what a load of b.......ks, but that would not be polite or respectful: therefore I don't write anything

I'm happy to give a different view point but am just very careful how I word it.  I wouldn't want to get into a tit for tat discussion on a forum as you cannot really have an open discussion as things can be misinterpreted.  That is why, when people are
blatantly rude, I think it's just best to ignore them and let their posts get buried.

Apologies. Getting back to the pointHappy. All it takes is common decency & intelligence-anything above average should suffice. We should
disagree it's healthy. There is a difference between attacking a viewpoint & attacking the person. The below average intelligence posters go for the person when it should be the viewpoint. I will endeavour to disagree with the viewpoint at all times, if anyone
deems I have made it personal-say so, it was a mistake I can correct in a trice with a heartfelt apology as it is never my intentionHappy

I've never ever seen any "heated" discussions on this forum.

People with different views - yes.

Huffy self centred posters who are offended if others don't agree with them  - yes

This is a mild mannered forum - There is never any controversy.  The T&C's and moderation preclude any form of serious argument.

    Cool

K, there lies the rubHappy, some posters do view a difference of opinion as a personal attack on their integrity as opposed to a simple
difference of opinion. Then you have the much vaunted & misunderstood 'banter' it is banter when both partys are in the loop. It's something more insidious when only one is in that frame of mindSad
