Hyperlink Not Working

I've just replied to a post where I needed to insert a web address. I would have liked to have used the hyper link facility but the "chain link" symbol is not highlighted. Am I doing something wrong

    Drag the mouse if using one and highlight the text, once highlighted the link will appear focused.

    Do you know Dave, i've used it before several times and couldn't work out how to do it,

    Linking text to a web page doesn't work if you are using IE. Try a different broweser.
