    our teacher had a little plastic disc gadget that she put her thumb onto to help her with the mass bottle opening she faced each morning.

    I remember those I had a Ford Prefect it could be really scary going up hill in snowy conditions you had to change right down to have any chance of seeing where you were going.

    Studs in football boots made up of little discs of leather nailed together. When they got worn down the nails were left exposed and you could do real damage with a careless tackle.
