Kathryn's DofE Diamond Challenge
Next week we will be using the Henley Four Oaks Caravan Club Site as a base to support our daughter completing (hopefully) her Duke of Edinburgh Award Diamond Challenge which is walking from Bath to Windsor along the Kennet and Avon canal and Thames footpath
(about 108 miles in total).
Kathryn gained her Gold award through the
Andover Mencap DofE Centre and would like to raise money to allow more youngsters like herself take part in the scheme.
Her page is here: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/kats2016challenge
So far she has walked from Bath to Newbury, mostly in day trips from home and one long weekend where we stayed on a CL site. She has about 50 miles to do which we hope to complete in 5 days walking.
If anyone would make a contribution to support her efforts (however small) it would be most appreciated.

A big thanks to those members who have contributed.
Nearly a disaster before we even started - all hitched up and ready for final checks when I noticed we had a flat tyre on the car. A quick inspection found a nail and of course all it has is a skinny emergency spare. We had a heck of a job finding somewhere
open to repair it and so arrived at Henley way later than planned.0 -
We've had three really good days. Monday Newbury to Theale (about 13.3 miles) and Tuesday Theale to Lower Shiplake. Today we walked from Lower Shiplake to Marlow. (using buses from the Club site which worked well).
Tommorrow to Maidenhead and Friday the finish in Windsor.

All set for tomorrow.
Henley Four Oaks has been an absolutely great place to use as a base for this week. It's really quiet and well organised. We've got on one of the pitches at the back of the site and can't hear the traffic at all - there don't seem to be many lorries on the
road by the site which probably makes a difference.0
