Loved Leeds in the 70's always remember the goal they scored from a free kick, never touched the ground till it hit the back of the net but was touvhed by 3 or 4 players, and of course the Billy Bremner/Francis Lee incident

RIP Gary Sprake. My dad was a big Leeds United fan, went to a lot of games, but would never take me, said it was no place for a small child! Looking at some of the footage of swathes of crowd moving up and down terraces, and some of the violence prevalent
at the times, he was probably right! They were a very dominant team though. I followed their progress via Shoot magazine, and the annual league table chart they gave away. Always remember moving little name cards up and down slots, and pinning my favourite
players up on my bedroom walls!Happy

Remember  Gary  Sprake  very  well  --  he  only  ever  dropped  a  clanger  when Leeds  were  on  T.V.  !!  The  rest  of  the  time  he  was  a  superb  'keeper.

    R.I.P.  Gary

Write your comments here...RIP Gary. Think the incident was Norman Hunter and Franny Lee. Gary was the best keeper in the world at one time - in my opinion.

I remember watching Gary throwing the ball into his own net at Anfield due to changing his mind. The Kop broke into a rendition of Careless Hands, a Des O'Connor "song" at the time. Gary looked at them and couldn't help but smile.

Boy they were some games between Liverpool and Leeds. There was a respect for that Leeds team and they actually clinched the title one year at Anfield in a night game. The Lpool fans actually applauded them off the pitch and Sprake  was an integral part
of that team. A very good goalie.

Those were the days when I was in love with the game, sadly no more.

Gary was a great goalkeeper for Leeds and Wales, very loyal and proud to be the number one for club and country.

    RIP Gary Sprake
