What an iconic soap character.  Jean was brilliant as Hilary Ogden in Corrie and Auntie Wainwright in Last of the Summer Wine.  She was 90 years old.  R.I.P. Jean.

Back in the days when Coronation Street had some resemblance to real life, Hilda Ogden was a real character.

    Good actress! Smile

A much underrated actress. Her partnership in Corrie with Bernard Youens has rarely been bettered in soaps. But she said Auntie Wainwright was her own personal favourite role.

    Jean Alexander RIP

Sad news, she was a great actress, thought she was wonderful in Last of the Summer Wine as Auntie Wainwright.

Apparently sir Laurence Olivier and sir John Betjamin were among her fans - that says it all
