Yet another!  I simply cannot remember such a sustained period of losses of well known people and entertainers.

Ciff Mitchelmore was quite simply an outstanding broadcaster in his day. He treated every incident, occasion or occurance, with just the right level of gravity but also common decency and humility. As a result he was respected by almost everyone. He spoke
for us all, and his descripition of what he was seeing at every event not only informed the uninformed but also aided those with no or defective vision.

As I said before a truly outstanding broadcaster!

One of my earliest TV memories was seeing him in tears reporting on the Aberfan disaster. A true giant of broadcasting and seemed a genuinely nice man.

He came across as a nice man. He also came from an age when presenters didn't have to have a gimick or a quirk to their personality. Just an ability to report competently and effectively.

A 'good innings' but always a shame when a good 'un goes.

A truely masterful presenter whose friendly personality gave him a place in every household. A change from the stuffy presenters with their Received Pronunciation that came before.
