'THE INTERNATIONAL OLYMPIC COMMITTEE (IOC) AGREED TO ADD BASEBALL/SOFTBALL, KARATE, SKATEBOARD, SPORTS CLIMBING AND SURFING TO THE SPORTS PROGRAMME FOR THE  OLYMPIC GAMES TOKYO 2020.'

Any thoughts about these or future ones to consider?

I am a mad keen Fysherman but have issues with it as a competitive sport.

Casting yes (distance or accuracy) but not fyshing itself.

That would be considerably more interesting and valued in my household than synchronised swimming.Surprised

Looking at that list for 2020 it seems to be pandering to the Amercan TV market. Don't suppose we should really be surprised at that!

Sad. Use left and right arrows to navigate.

If it's pandering to the American market, how about Olympic eating contest. Eat as much fast food as you can within the time limit! Might be sponsorship opportunities?

I'd like to suggest baking or ballroom dancing but I can't see either of those catching on competitively! Laughing

Why do you think it is pandering to American TV?

I am of the view that unless it can be objectively measured - fastest, longest, highest etc it should not be admissable. Subjective assessment of style, execution etc are not readily discernible and should be excluded.

Have  to  agree  with  you  there  CY.

Even  tho'  the  exclusion  of  most,  if  not  all,  of  gymnastics  would  be  sad,  I  would  not  miss  Synchro  Swimming  talented  tho  they  undoubtedly  are.

Write your comments here...I agree ... Tiddly Winks,  Ludo, draughts, chess and snakes and ladders being objectively measured would obviously be included.

Dominoes? Nah! If it's for the American market, they wouldn't understand it!
