Been watching Tejay in the tour de Suisse - doesn't seem to finish very well
Ian, Geraint did some super riding supporting Froome last year, even came back after he went over a barrier!
GT is one of those people who has a high reputation (largely within UK newspaper reporing - by people that for 49 weeks in the year have no interest in cycling) that is simply not based on facts or achievements, His record in three week tours is appalling.
Do you want to swap from Porte to Thomas!
NO! Sticking with Richie!
just saying, sometimes, someone you think isnt doing well surprises you

Been having a look at the course for this year.
It has plenty of mountain stages (great! ) and only two time trials of about 40 and 17 km.....so the results shouldn't be
too distorted in favour of the TT specialists (as in the Wiggins year). The first day is a 'proper' stage, not a prologue (albeit flat) and most importantly, there are two mountain stages just before the run-in to Paris......so hopefully the fight will go to the bitter end.
Watch out for the famous Ventoux stage (about stage 15 from memory).
Should be a good Tour

Thanks tda, have done, but I think I'll keep my powder dry till the full teams are posted.
nab Warren Barguil while you can
Well go on then. Not sure if his team is strong enough, and don't particularly want to choose a Frenchman, but he seems to be a genuine contendor, so that's my choise Ian...,..,Warren Barguil.

Is Tom Dumoulin riding, anyone know. He must be in with a shout of a stage win at least.

As I said before, Nellie - he has been cited as a possible successor to Bernard Hinault.
(But then again, so was Jean Francoise Bernard......who never did much at all.....).
He has been held back in earlier Tours as his team concentrated on the sprints with Marcel Kittell.
Should do very well (although he just slipped back in the Tour de Suisse today ).

He doen't seem to be listed at present in the Giant-Alpecin team in the Tour de Suisse, but is in the full team listing on their web-site.

We've just worked out that we will be in Aubignan (Nr Carpentras) when they do the Mt Ventoux leg of the Tour de France. That's the theory anyway - providing the car is fixed!!
David
We've a campsite booked in Bedoin for that stage. Will look out for you in your beautiful new 'van, it's July 14th, Bastille bank holiday so expect it will be rather busy.

Yes I know it's Bastille day, so we're expecting it to be really busy with that and the Tour. We've booked Le Bregoux again.

Have all the teams been announced, and if so where can one find them?

No, not yet - must be any day now though.
I believe that some teams (Sky, for example) have already given a good indication of who will be in their teams.
Really cannot understand Sky trying to support two GC contenders (I say 'contenders' but Thomas has no chance). It so rarely works in their favour as it just divides resources.

Not lost in France quite yet. Suppose to be going tomorrow, but car isn't fixed yet. It's all a bit of a nightmare! As for who I'm going for in the Tour de France..... haven't got a clue!!

Sky have published their team, and I think that GT is there to try and do a similar job as CF did for Wiggins.

Except that Froome was a better rider than Wiggo and could have won, if not for team orders.
Thomas, on the other hand, is nowhere near the same league as Froome.

David,
I really hope that you get the car sorted and manage to enjoy your holiday.
For the Tour, may I suggest:
Pierre Rolland - French rider, lots of promise.
Richie Porte - nice Australian lad, previously supported Froome, not my choice for a win but some like to think he could.
Thibault Pinot - another French rider with a lot of promise.
The choice, as they say, is yours.......

Thanks Ian. There's a chat about the race at 9:00 tonight on BBC Radio 5

Sky & Movistar line-ups look so so strong.
BMC and Astana too, but Porte and Aru will have to deliver or VanGarderan and Nibali will split their teams.
Is it just me, or does Contador look a little exposed.
All things being equal, got to be Froome or Quintana for GC
I am disappointed GreenEdge are resting Chaves after the Giro. Adam Yates has the opportunity there.
Can't wait, everything that football isn't.
