 I believe Ali was a one off and deserved the title of sportsman of the century

    ......and apparantly, so did a lot of other people. He won more votes than all the rest of the candidates put together. A true great of our time.

    As Cassius Clay he was "The Greatest. I was one of his greatest fans. As a heavyweight boxer he had the speed and agility of a lightweight. He could put together a wonderful succession of different punches and could wear his opponent down and win fights without having to rely on a big punch.I would have paid top dollar to go and watch his fights live

    I lost interest when he refused to serve his country in the armed forces and in particular when he became devisive and racist. ----IMO racism has no place in sport.

    Im sorry he has lost his fight for life and will always enjoy watching re- runs of his famous fights.

    He was " The Greatest". RIP

    To all those of us who love sport he was simply the towering figure of the 20th century. A great sportsman and an inspiration to millions. We were priviliedged to have shared years with him. Superlatives are not enough. We will not see his like again.
