Euro footballing competition
I understand that there is some sort of competition for footballists coming up soon.
I drew the team from Germany in our sweep at CAB. Do I have any chance of winning?
As I understand it, some people have to kick a ball into a net, or something, and the one who does it the most times wins the game.
Seems a bit pointless to me, but I thought I'd give it a go. Exciting these office draws, aren't they? Certainly more interesting than kicking a ball about.

I bought a Swiss motorway vignette from a rural post office near Como and they gave me a footie ball raffle ticket for this competition which is occurring.I gave it to the bloke next in the queue and he was as pleased as punch, at least I think he was but
he had a very strong regional accent so he might just have been inviting me for lunch0 -
IanH You have much to learn. Another game where the ball has to go into the net is Netball. Netball players are big girls in blouses. On the other hand Football players are big girls blouses. The difference is subtle but important for cognoscenti like
what I am.0 -
Well, from what I hear on the news, the English versus the Russians was a right old scrap, with neither side coming out of it too well.
Not too sure what happened in the game though.....who kicked the most balls (or whatever it is they do).
Write your comments here...frm what I read I think it was the Ruskies that kicked the most balls.

Write your comments here...Aye the Ruskies are a real tough lot - Fit and well trained. Hard as nails. --- Dont think the English had much of a chance.

So, do the English footballers play any more games, or is that it? I thought that the tradition was that they played a few games and then had to rely on Bolivia (or someone) to beat someone else by 10-0 to be able to play someone else?
When will they be announcing that my German lot have won?
Exciting stuff this footballing, isn't it?

On the news at the moment. Many England fans causing mayhem in Lille. and fighting with the police.
The uefa are wimps they talk a lot, but do nothing, they really need to send a strong message to football supporters in international tournaments by banning any country where their supporters cause trouble. -
---Start with Russia and England, the worst offenders.

It's only the best teams at the Euros K, the ones who fought hard to get there, the ones with passion & pride for their Country & love of the game. It's the very best who will win. To be beaten by a Welsh team who are a joy to watch will be no shame-IF it

It's only the best teams who play against each other in a tournament final.-----
- The rest who dont make it are just poor also rans. No matter how far or not the failed teams progress in the tournament they need to recognise they are not up to the task of winning.

WEll said K, you are spot on. So we have the tryers/losers then a step up to the competers then the ultimate winners/best in Europe. . . .I agree

What about luck of the draw, some teams have an easier passage to the finals than others

Write your comments here...Good point Oneputt-- that opens up another can of worms - Alleged bribery and favouritism has been known to help certain teams in the draw stage of International Tournaments.

Crikey K, I know you sometimes think the worse about educational standards, but that Sports Psychology Degree you took is definitely bargain basement! But you made me laugh!

Wales are 1 up, what a goal too, Gareth Bale scored what could be the goal of the tournament, superb.

Heart, Might, Pride Skill, Talent call it what you will but England & Wales are full of this and yet the one thing that stood out was sheer Passion and sadly that will never win a multi - round tournament. Sorry but
Semifinals is about the maximum this Sceptred Isle can get, alasB

Did I miss something, I thought it ended 2:1. Oh by the way half the Welsh team were born in England
Its a shame there was only one team trying to win.

did have possession for most of the time, and wales took them until the last 3 mins so England and Wales are happy0 -
re run of the France Albania game really, one team trying to win the other content for a draw with eleven men behide the ball all the time, deserved wins and hope England and Wales go through.
Watching Stan Collymore's live feeds from Lille last night the Welsh lads were clubing together with the English for a bit of Ruskie hunting.

It was quite a good game with a stand out goal from Gareth Bale. I thought the Welsh team played magnificently, and to be honest, gave England the rattle they needed. Just hoping, with fingers and toes crossed that they both get through, along with Ireland
and Northern Ireland. Some really gutsy performances from some of the underdog teams so far! Be interesting to see just how far England can progress!0
