Why shouldn't it last? It's in the pets section and has nothing to do with caravanning. Providing posters remember that, there'll be no reason for any action.

That article sums up the irresponsible and inconsiderate attitude of too many people these days, whether they be dog owners or not.

I have not followed a doggy thread for some time, but thought they were getting wrapped up into a single thread for some unknown reason?!

Agree (...just perhaps not quite as ....strongly!) btw! Laughing

The single thread is Caravanning With Dogs, CJ. This isn't about caravanning with them so is in the right place.

It's primarily about the owners rather than the dogs, Bob. I really, really, really don't like bad owners so this is good if it helps educate a few.

Absolutely right Tinny, this isn't an anti dog post it's about asking a tiny minority of owners to be a little more responsible.

for the record I do not assume everyone likes dogs and as mine is a trained gundog I do not encourage folk other than me interacting too much with her. As a counter to the Point of this post why do people assume that its ok to tell my dog to sit and or to
throw a ball for her. ???

I have even had people offering her biscuits, and that's dog owners who should know better.

yes that as well and good for you but from my point of view I don't want my "working" dog to think that anyone else can provide what I provide.

This is one of the reasons I would probably never attend a 'meet'. I would like to be fairly relaxed with others but my dog is also part of my life and she is quite affectionate towards people if I allowed it, so being on edge would be a damn good reason
    for me not to go.

Write your comments here...Great article unfortunately I am not sure it's a "tiny minority" seems the number of inconsiderate owners is growing.  My dogs were on a lead the other day and a big Ridgeback came up.  Owner assured me she was fine but she attacked my Labrador!  No physical harm done but it's not the first time she has been attacked recently and it's making her quite growly when other dogs approach.

Fair point, well-made. Same could be said of some kids. I keep my dogs under close control, but some kids think it's ok to run up to your dogs and pet them without asking if they are friendly first! We had one little boy persistantly kick his ball at one
of my collies, on a beach, to get the required reaction of my dog going potty for the ball! I told the little darling that the dog would puncture it, but when he engaged him in a game of catch, and burst it, my husband gave the upset lad the money for the
    ball! I was incensed!

always makes me chuckle when folk think it would be a jolly hoot to command my dog to sit, I have no idea what the point of having someone's dog sit for you is all about but there you go. Any my bitch looks at them with disgust and stands . Anyway she is
a spaniel and as a traditionalist she doesn't "sit" she "hups"

oh and she doesn't lie down, roll over or shake a paw. I even had one person ask what tricks she can do, tricks !!!

My dog does not do tricks as well,  but when someone new parks up at the side of us and we have that electric bollard, when they are plugging in she stands by them has this silly bark until they say hello to her.

Most owners are taken aback when their dog, which has just tried to jump up my leg, gets a clip around the nose.

I assume I'll get sued one day!

Original post a bit insulting really. I love my dogs but am perfectly aware that they are not everyone's cup of tea and keep them tethered because of this. On the other hand, why is EVERYONE expected to like a child? I for one, would rather have a dog crawling
round my feet in a cafe or restaurant than someone else's offspring wiping its nose on my trousers While the parents look on and sigh and giggle at the beautiful site of their child exploring.

Write your comments here...If the owner is allowing the dog to jump up anybody's leg it's not the dog which needs a clip around the nose --- it's the irresponsible owner.

This is a polite request. This is a thread about dogs and not children so to make any sort of comparison is totally un acceptable.Children are people so lets not drag them into this thread.Thankyou.
