I'm a keen radio controlled aircraft pilot but I'm interested in all kindsvof RC models anyone else share this interest

    Hi, I to have a interest in Radio controlled models , started of on I.C Boats cars gliders etc.  It is fun to relax with them.Happy

    This brings back memories!  I started off when I was 14 or 15 in the mid 60s with a radio controlled boat built from plans in Model Boat magazine.  I built a single channel transmitter - which had one valve and was powered by a 90v dry battery - housed in
    a metal box about 12" high x 8" wide and 4" deep.  The receiver was similarly, single valve and housed in a plastic Tupperware box!  What I was really proud of was that I also built a proportional control system - before such things were commercially available
    which was a simple pulse generator and driven by the latest technology - a transistor!!

    Moving on - in later life, I crashed a multitude of aircraft with amazing regularity and finished up with a Bell 47G helicopter (of Whirlybirds fame for those that can remember that TV series) which, again, seemed to spend most of it's time being repaired
    after repeatedly bouncing it off the ground!

    Latest project is a 40" scratch built scale tug with twin 12v motors, 4 x12v Batteries (of the domestic alarm back-up type) working lights and fire monitors - which I started about 10 years ago and really must get round to finishing soonLaughing

    I have always liked rc models however since starting with aeroplanes I have converted our dining room into a full on workshop to repair the ones I crash log

    Wife not too impressed about the dining room though lol

    I have had fixed wing RC Aircraft in the past but have now moved across to quadcopters with the Phantom 3 Pro. Great for capturing images and video when away in the caravan.

    HI chris - currently building a 2.5 metre version of 'Gentle Lady' - powered glider.

    My OH is seriously into that.  Particularly interested in older aircraft; he has built an Eindecker, Tiger Moth and also likes gliders, ie an Ivory Gull, which is now quite a while ago since he built that.

    For his sins he's also chairman of his local flying club.

    Edited to say that when we go to France, he's allowed (by me!) to take one with him, but only an electric one.  One place where he really likes flying is the Dune de Pyla, where he's met up with the local model club and got to know a few of the members there.  I am told that flying off that dune is absolutely wonderful!  He's dragged me up there before now to take photographs; if I can find one and find out how to post it on here, I will.

    Must  say  it  would  be  nice  if  you  built  some  R/C  fighter  aircraft  to  take  out  those  naughty  Drones  Yell!  &  I  don't  mean  male  bees  either  Cool!  Some  thing  like  Quarter  Scale  Mosquito's  firing  ball  bearings  should  do  the  trick  !!

    That sounds like a challenge.. :-)

    Obviously the BB thing is a none starter so how about this;

    You fly a fixed wing RC model of any description and I will fly my Phantom P3 Pro 'drone'. If you can hit it with your fixed wing RC model, both would be destroyed but I will buy you a new one. If you can't hit it you buy me a pint :-)

    fan of Tamiya, got a few cars, not really used though (Clod Buster and bush devil and Falcon) enjoy reading about vintage (well late 80"s) models and stuff and got a phantom 3 std drone, but needs to be used more really!

    modern RC cars/buggies hold no interest really, or any I/C as found them to be noisy and to be a fair the brushless has caught up with them for hobby purposes.

    My Caravans radio controlled: But seriously: My brother in law had a huge Spitfire. It was awsome. but he darent fly it for fear of crashing it: But these things are amazing, i can see the attraction: Im into m/cycling /Fishing & shooting air rifle myself.

    hello,this thread,has been run into along time but rather than starting anew one on the same subject

    Does anyone take their radio control model planes to Spain,Portugal?

    If so would they kindly share with us where they fly?

    We are going for the winter and oh would like to know?
