The RSPB on Club Together
Hi Everyone,
As you know Ash who originally set up this discussion has left RSBP to pursue his Master’s Degree. I'd like to introduce myself - I'm Tania and I'll be providing the Club Together pages with an official RSPB presence.
I'll be looking to update you all with interesting conservation and wildlife stories and will be looking to answer any questions that you may have related to our work, our partnership with the Caravan and Motorhome Club or anything wildlife/nature related.
Very much looking forward to engaging with you all!

Hopefully this helps, Ash. Just want to point out that our CC membership cards allows us to visit RSPB reserves free of charge! Great eh!

Apologies for not making the link live, still getting used to the CT interface!
Absolutely right Micky, your Caravan Club membership cards allow one adult entry to our reserves. Would be brilliant to see any discussions/stories and of course, experiences that you all may have of our reserves/wildlife you encounter.

Hi Fisherman,
We're not here to advertise at all, just here to engage with a community which shares a passion for being outdoors!
Our partnership with the Caravan Club is very much a 2-way street, as we see our members on either side benefiting from the relationship we've built.

Good to see the tie-in between CC and RSPB showing up here and it will be a pleasant contrast to some of the more moany threads.
We're members of both; didn't realise CC cards were valid for RSPB sites! Will look forward to more posts.

Hi Mousley, it does indeed, see this link for more details on the offer

Although we technically can gain free entry to RSPB reserves by being members of the CC we still pay our membership to both organisations as both give us immense joy.
Ash, can you do me a favour though. Ask your reserve managers to stop maintenance work when we're due a visit. We'll let you have a timetable of prospective visits if it helps!

Try across the bird nesting season (Mar - Aug), any maintenance work has to wait until after, you can thank the birds for that

i think perhaps "Wherenext' saw my comment about Titchwell. They have just started erecting a fence to keep mammals away from Avocet nests. The work is planned to end this weekend. The freshwater lagoon was empty of birds when I went yesterday and 50 Avocets
were huddled on the saltmarsh waiting to dive in and get the best spots.0 -
Good to see the rspb posting, we are members too. We have enjoyed visiting the reserves and have found the staff and volunteers very helpful.

Ash, I should have added 'I don't think you'll need to pull them off the job, as last I heard 'Wherenext' was having a good time at the Burton Mere Wetlands reserve.
Write your comments here...They were knocking hell out of some trees near one of the Lakes in order to build a new hide! I swear they know when we're coming! Lol.

Looks like some reserves are trying to get sorted before Easter rather than before March.
I visited Titchwell today to discover the whole fen trail is shut until Easter for renewal of the boardwalks and this was posted today from my local RSPB reserve back home:
Work starts today on Allen and Eric Morecambe paths.Hides, paths and car park closed 14-24 March. Rest of reserve and centre open as normal12:30 a.m. - 14 Mar 2016

So I assume they are doing their best to get it finished before peak visitor season.

Ash, can you let us know what extra pressure can be brought against Malta and Cyprus (see thread on Turtle Doves). How can they thumb their noses at EU legislation in this way? Obviously the RSPB is involved in monitoring and helping local wildlife organisations
but perhaps you could enlighten us further as to whether any progress is being made because it doesn't seem like it.0 -
