It does depend on the make/software used regarding lat/lon renaming. My built in sat nav will allow the renaming of co-ordinates for future use.

Well, just tried this on my very old steam driven Tomtom One...

i put in the coordinates for a site in Spain...

it immediately recognised the street that this referred to (a reassuring boon to those who sometimes get the coord the wrong way round) and did the navigation.

i checked 'recent destinations' and this had been filed under the street name....no renaming required, so pleased with thatWink

My TomTom is only 3 or 4 years old, so not much progress there from your old steam driven one! Backwards progress, in fact.

Anyway, I keep threatening to bin it, because the screen has gone faulty and keeps jumping through menus without anyone touching it.

    Thinking of getting a Garmin.

We have a newish and a much older Garmin, both are pretty good, and it is easy to check that it is actually taking us to where we want to be.

I have downloaded the NT data base, and even so,  like Ian, we have on several occasions been taken to some "back entrance".
