    Speed, noise etc are very different to the green light scenario.

    The light is a personal choice - like people running their heating more or less time - and is nobodys business but theirs.  If it were my green light and some interfering busy body told me to turn it off as they felt it was a waste of electricity I would
    very soon tell them where to go.  

    On the other hand if someone said my noise level/speed or something else I was doing was actually causing them a problem I would try and sort it out.
