Kindle Fire with Club Wifi

Long story short, twice now on arriving at Club Sites Maureens Kindle Fire has gone mad and changed date to 1970 preventing it from working properly, games, books and apps all screwed up, unable to connect to wifi. After lengthy phone calls and 24 hour wait
for Air Angel to call back and a lengthy call to excellent Amazon it APPEARS to be something between Air Angel system and an Amazon up date. To correct it you need to go to another wifi spot and it will automatically sort itself out. Air Angel don't seem to
want to take responsibility for it but it needs to be sorted out.

It could be a problem similar to what I get on my iPad. I have a newspaper app and if it tries to connect to the club wifi, when I am not logged in, it locks up. I then have to delete everything (the app and newspapers) and re-install. It may be your Kindle is trying to load the update before it is connected and this is causing the problem. There is no easy way round it, as even if you log in it drops out periodically when you don't realise. I tend to put the pad in flight mode on site, unless I am using the Internet, and this stops any problems.

Not the same Steve but similar. We need to engage flight mode BEFORE we arrive, it messes it up when we go in the gate!

Keep my kindle in flight mode unless downloading, saves having to remember to do it when travelling (Mrs Steve)

The same thing happened to my wife's Kindle Fire at River Breamish. The site wifi changed the date to 1970 and the Kindle would not connect as it told you that date and time were incorrect. Unfortunately this cannot be done manually on this device and has
to be corrected when the tablet is connected to the Internet.  However, if you can't connect??? My iPad connected with no problem. At our next site I used my iPhone as a mobile hot spot as we had a 4g signal. I connected the Kindle to this and the date and
time were immediately corrected and the tablet was then ok. Obviously some sort of problem with the site wifi as our neighbours at RB had exactly the same problem. They went to Barclays in Wooler, connected their Kindle and this corrected the date and time.

Sounds like user error to me.

silly comment as this has happened to several people. I am quite "computer savvy" and it's a fault with the club's wifi. As already posted no trouble was had using my iPad. It only affects a Kindle Fire.

AirAngel accept there is a problem with Kindle Fire devices.  We have had the same issue with the date reverting back to 1970 on Kendal Club Site and Burford Club Site.  However, the problem re-occurred everytime we went back to site - so when off site the
Kindle worked fine and the time and date were correct - enter the site gates and it all goes pears shaped again.  Real problem that AirAngel need to get on top of.

...or perhaps there is a time portal on certain Club sites and you really did go back to 1970? Did the caravans have external gas bottles on the A frame?

The problem with Kindles is that they use a Amazon android system, rather than a full system that you get with android pads and phones.

It seems that some android apps will load ok, if you get the .apk file from another source. (Googleplay, or via usb from a PC).

Some apps work better than intended !!  I have a couple that completely ignore restrictions, put on by sellers, where I know other users have adverts, restriction in use etc.

My best guess is there mismatch between the the login protocols and the android operating system.  Getting a resolution from either party, where they see it as the other party's problem, I would suggest is a no hope-er.

I will try my HD kindle next time away and see what happens.  I I had a problem wth logging out after trying to buy a book on my voyage kindle,The club system you have to actively log out of, otherwise the user account is held open (for a while ?). Most disconnects from a wifi signal, automatically log you out and off the system.

A bit like the CMHC website, that seems to have its own quirks compared with a number of sites and forums.
