BB said 'seriously, it could be equally construed as a 'wonderful effort to provide a waste service for wild campers everywhere, thus reducing abuse....'.

I am sure that both he and I realise that responsible wild campers find a way to manage responsibly. Those that don't are hardly likely to travel maybe 20 miles to a CC site, pay a fiver and travel 20 miles back! Can you imagine if CC provided the
facility near popular wild camping areas? Doubt that the local authorities would be too grateful. Seems like a change of use regarding planning. No idea why the C & CC have decided to make provision.

re: the first point...They'd do it on their way somewhere else...

next: probably because they are a more progressive operation that takes the time to listen to its customers? well, they are the friendly clubHappy

The trouble is people don't like change ,so to some it is easier to dismiss something than to try it , if the CC bought this facility in I can't see hundreds of members pouring in to the sites to use it ,but to some members it could be a useful addition

but as usall the club buries it head in the sand ........

Yep they take your subs. Part of the deal. If you don't like the deal (which many do) then why be a member? As far as I am concerned the facilities are for those using a site. If it was such a big earner as Q4 suggests I am sure that many entrepreneurs will be rushing to set up sites. Have you approached the Dragon's Den team with a business plan Q4?

I haven't suggested anywhere that it would be a big earner.  Specs Savers required perhaps?

Appologies Q4 it was MichaelIT that said '...but at say £5 for 100l of water and to allow the emptying of waste it would be a nice little earner for the clubs coffers as a certain Del Boy used to say.'

Travelling from East to West Sussex today  passing trough Hastings on the A259 at the west end of Hastings front there was a "collection" of numerose types of M/vans that looked "permanent"by the condition of some and God forbid if the situation arose as
per Broadway as they were nose to tail and only one exit Surprised

As a caravanner, a tolerant caravanner, I am ashamed at the response of caravanners to this possibility.

If the Club could offer this facility to members, I think they should.

UK is so MH unfriendly, it is almost beyond belief.

Write your comments here...although at a fiver it would be money for nothing I really don't see it as a huge revenue stream as I don't think there is that much demand or indeed not that many places you can wild camp.

There are probably lots of places where you can wild camp but some would not be desirable. Also some seem to find somewhere desirable in the day and anywhere out of the way to sleep.

Also I don't see it as 'money for nothing'. Having paid to stay on a CC site I personally would not wish a procession of none site users circulating the site to access facilities. We may not be talking of many users I appreciate at present but in that case
the income is small. If facilities were outside the main site as most site users would doubtless prefer then there would generally be contruction costs including probably additional surfacing for access and turning circles as well as water and waste provision.
I do not see that as desirable for wny site operator or, in the case of CC its general membership who, if they are like me, would not welcome any inconvenience or cost to provide such a service for those not using the sites to stay.

I know little about wild camping although I spent three weeks in Scotland some 20 years ago with a caravan doing just that. I was able to be self contained (being on my own) for up to 4 nights before needing to empty loo and take on water, dump rubish etc.
I was not wishing to save money and wanted some solitude. I either did not pay to service my requirements and used a quiet public toilet to empty and fill or stayed a night on a site and got a shower, trimmed my beard etc. I did not have a shower just strip
    down washes otherwise.
