Fresh water yes or no?

Its absolute rubbish it would encourage wild camping. Those that like wilding already do it and those that don't are unlikely to change their minds just because the Club opens up access to MSPs to members.
peedee
...As already stated the worst of the Wild Camping fraternity are already in possesion of club membership cards (both major clubs), and if people are getting to the stage of our lifestyle that stops them from being capable of useing disposal points that are provided at all venues, then maybe it is time for them to think about an alternative lifestyle, Both OH and I are not able (because of health problems) to carry out things as easily as in the past ,

Why this obsession with it would only be wild campers who want to use such a facility. I have already pointed out the inconvenience of service points at CLs, shows and rallies. Some may be usable without a great deal of effort, most are not so why not give members the opportunity to use a more convenient point?
peedee
So people use an alternative commercial site - at a show where they pay to camp but rather than have to fetch water and empty toilet cassettes involving a hundred yard walk they simply drive to their friendly neighborhood CC site and use the MVSP. I think not. They are quite capable of using various containers (some made for the job) to take grey water and waste to an empty point as caravanners regularly do and return with fresh water.
Pure fantasy.
indeed!
I thought we were talking about motorhomes, containers are alien to their owners.

I thought eveyone in the Club was equal. What your saying ET is that a member should be denied the opportunity of using many CLs and going to the National. :snip:
peedee
Peedee I have to tailor what I do to allow for my own physical problems as do many. I have a lawnmower that has its own drive so that I simply walk behind and turn it at the end of a row. However I can no longer do so without to high a degree of discomfort
and so no longer do so.If I could not cope with the facilities provided at a venue then I would hoped that the organisers would mitigated the problems as much as possible. I certainly do not expect another provider to carry out the role free of charge.
I agree that £7.20 does seem expensive if showers etc are not required.

Needs must peedee. I often see motorhomes with an awning attached and somebody using a wastemaster and water container to service.

....But why should the CC be the provider for people who want to wild camp and not pay site fees. If you allowed MH next you would have large twin axle caravans towed by white vans! if it were put to a vote
I would vote agin itMembers are allowed to use what ever tow vehicle they want
Indeed however they are also required to pay to use a site's facilities

The CCC charge £7.20 for up to 3 hours use of onsite facilities for MH's Nice little earner I would have thought.
Just out if interest, if several turn up at once, where do they all park while they are using the showers and laundry.
...extremely unlikely.....there isnt an 'arrival time' for topping up.
no doubt, C&CC have considered this, as the dont offer the service at all sites.....so perhaps just those with (say) good access, decent visitor parking, MHSP, etc....

I am just a firm believer in the law of sod.

me, too...
either way, as CCC restricts this service to a subset of their sites, youd think there was a reason for this....better able to deliver it, including coping with more thwn one van, i would imagine.
i dont see this being a hugely in demand service, merely that, from time to time, it might be 'convenient' to take on water or dump waste 'for whatever reason'.

I have only witnessed this service being used once. Guess what? It was on a CC site in Scotland. Warden's discretion? Warden doing his own thing? Friend of the warden's? We'll never know.

a scenario
A motorhomer travels from Kent to Scotland in one trip ,and his dog has drunk all the onboard water and the passengers have used the cassett loo a few times (drinking all that water), so being a member of the CC he sees a Club site and pops in to ask the
warden if he could have some water, WHAT! says the warden, you want some more!, but you haven't booked and i cant let you on site because of H&S rules! But all i would like is some water, sorry says the warden it's against the rules you know,
I'll pay.....NO
I'll just walk across to the tap with my water can ....NO
one of the advantages of the CC.....not

Let them eat cake I say (and drink a diet coke). What prat would undertake a journey from Kent to Scotland without ensuring adequate provision for his dog? Damned sure that you or I wouldn't fella. Pretty hypothetical innit

I've said it earlier husky - doesn't bother me at all if a motorhomer visits for water or waste dumping or whatever but it's a policy decision by the club and the way to change it is by approaching the club (would this be a club council thing?) rather than
here which just ends up in debate.Obviously some members would not be in favour of allowing it although some aren't bothered so I wouldn't expect change any time soon

Without wishing to join in all the bickering.......
I have to say that it does make me smile that these so-called 'wild campers' who shun the organised neatness of a CC site, with all those unwanted facilities ('why use a public toilet when I have my own on board?'), because being out and about and doing your own thing is the way real caravanning should be done........would then turn up at a CC site, cap (or watering can) in hand, asking....can I have some water please, because I didn't bring enough.......
As I said above, if I was the warden I would let him have some......but might just feel a little smug while doing it, as I escorted him across my pristine site

Of course he wouldn't drive all that way, nor would he probably set off in this country without having at least a few ideas on where to stay, even if he didn't book. Thread is entering realms of fantasy now, much to the high glee of the OP no doubt! Aside
from which, Kent to Scotland in 7 hours? That in itself is worthy of a golden laugh award. It would take three hours just to get M25 sorted! Just ask all those well organised holidaymakers with and without tourers who decided to do the Continent via Dover
on the busiest weekend of the year a couple of weeks ago!0 -
Now let me see if I have this right. I can tip up at a CC Ltd site with a near empty fresh water tank, near full cassette or two, near full waste water tank, book in for one night if they have space, dump and refill, use the facilities (paid and those included within the night price) then the following day or earlier if I wish, leave with empty waste and cassette(s) and a full tank of fresh water.
By Jove I think he has got it.

Conversely I am not allowed to tip up at a CC Ltd site with a near empty fresh water tank, near full cassette or two, near full waste water tank, pay a reasonable fee, dump, refill, and then depart a happy bunny with an empty waste and cassette(s) and a
full tank of fresh water?Of course you can. I think the reasonable fee you refer to is equal to one nights stopover

Why are people asking the same question over and over and over again?
Strange isn't it? I'm surprised, too, that my previous post drew no comments.
