Fresh water yes or no?

...The reason Broadway took so long was a "problem"with the roof of the old building (goods shed ) and who was to pay for rectification
Well, according to the site staff who were there at the time, it was a problem under the floor!
And why would anyone spend 2 years debating who was going to pay for repairs to a CC owned building?
Having dealt with building contractors all my working life, it was clear to me that someone was making themselves some extra work there.
And as BB says, the CC do not move quickly on anything.....20 years to change waste points to something that actually works, being a prime example.
...It was leased until bought by the club and there was a poor serveyers report that failed to pick up the defects the roof was the main problem
Well, the site staff said it was a problem under the floor......evidenced by the open holes around the buildng for months. I tend to think that they would know better than you, with respect.
A poor surveyor's report wouldn't take responsibility away from the CC to repair its own buildings.
This is a site that, despite being patronised by a lot of m/h's does not have a proper waste emptyng point......despite having redevelpment carried out and work on one toilet block fairly recently.
Still, if they are trying to sell it.........?

Refusing water to a paid up member who cannot get in because it's full up? Anyone would think this is not really a club but a multi million pound business.
Oh, it is a multi million pound busines so get your water somewhere else. Go away now we need to make some more money
...I do not think any warden or manager or site owner would refuse anyone some water a watering can full should sufice,it's the cost of disposal of grey And black waste that if required should be paid for
...Strange why you think like that JV, for me a charge for fresh water would make more sense as water can be bought from a shop if needed and no danger to the enviroment. However the unscrupulous ones will dump toilet waste and grey waste anywhere if they
are desperate. I know we are talking about UK but abroad its the water that you pay for and the dumping is free.Write your comments here...

A poo lorry! As in, rolls up, sucks out your septic tank and bingo, you are ready to flow again! For places not connected to mains sewage drainage. Lots of CLs have them.

"I am sure you are a nice fella BB"
Alan, what a nice thing to say......
"but you don't half post some daft things."
...and then you go and spoil it all by saying something stupid...
sounds like the basis of a good melody....
look, i realise that you are totally resistant to change...the majority of your posts are along the lines of "i am happy as it is..." but it can be still ok for folk to chew the cud on new ideas.
im more than happy to argue the toss with anyone over any idea, and despite chatting about it, i agree with you that the club will never move towards cheaper transit pitches...
equally, it will never complete its trial of the HS booking process....
nor will we ever see the fruits of the next generation of CC web based systems (not in our lifetime, anyway)...
...but the glacial rate of change within CC doesnt preclude 'fellas' (and girls) having a chat and kicking ideas about...
so, to conclude, i am a nice 'fella', one who has never resorted to calling your staid postings 'daft'....
...though, i might give it a try from time to time...
Nice Post BB. I did like it yesterday and replied ....... sadly the site went down. How unusual I hear you say.
It is not that I am resistant to change entirely BB. It is simply that it makes no sense for either club to sell water and waste facility. The C&CC obviously realise this as they don't do that either. They do sell 3 hours on site with use of all facilities
however which I could see as being usefull to anybody wild camping. I doubt that the CC would encourage the activity and therefore doubt they would offer the same facility. As for night halts as I indicated there would probably only be a couple of quid saving
for the user over being on pitch because the relative size of pitches would not reduce greatly due to the need to maintain spacings. The area for such a provision would be relatively large also to allow for motorhome manouvres. So does anybody think it likely
that the club would produce a series of substandard pitches (in terms of width) that the majority of members would not wish to utilise? I can think of few (if any sites) where such a provision outside the main pitching areas would not have a serious detriment
on the clubs ability to provide enough pitches for other members. I also think that the costs involved might well not be recouped. I can see many logistical problems whuch would incur more expense and problems and so cannot see it happening any time soon.
If it was believed that night halts complying with site licensing requirements within the UK was a worthwhile financial scheme that somebody would have provided them.ETA. I hope you realised that when I said that you don't half say daft things that it was in Fun
...of course i do....youre a nice guy, too....im sure..

Thanks BB

Don't we all post daft things at times

This is an example of what we get all over europe for motorhomes specifically
The quaity and the prices may be hard to swallow lol

....and not a (WTD affected) warden required....
camper stops lend themselves well to this sort of 'self service' process....seems that caravanners need a 'warden' to check them in and to help them pitch to the peg

Not this caravanner BB. Some of us take our vans to quite a variety of places. That's what they are designed to do after all.
I appreciate the difficulties that service point design causes for motorhomers and I've backed the demand for improvements on many an occasion. Let's try to encourage harmony between the two groups rather than divides eh?
I have seen the wink by the way

Well said, Jay.
I detect traces of the old BB there.

obviously not your leg i was pulling, Jay....
i cant really get my mind around why this (above self service stopover) sort of unmanned pay facility isnt more popular here.
after all, we encourage cars to come to towns and pay to park. i'd be more than happy to be able to pay say far more than the £3 charged at Canterbury for an overnight stop and then a couple of quid for water if needed....
a barrier with a pay machine tucked away near the 'coach area' doesnt seem a difficult thing to organise. travellers would have to pay to get in, how many do you see encroaching onto 'regulated' car parks....
those CC sites with 'visitor\LNA' areas could easily be reburbished to provide a barrier and spaces for the MHSP, free for those staying, paid for by those passing through and visiting the local area...
canterbury has realised that they have a resource in their lovely city, and many visitors (especially those coming over in the MH) would love to come and explore the city and so make use of the aire installed there...
ive seen many a continental site with an aire, attached but just outside the site barrier, being managed by the same site....
the parking is paid for, as is the water supply....so that those just passing, can fill at the costed level.
no one bothers anyone on the site, no warden contact, no driving round the site and a bit of money made in return for a useful service....
so, caravanners and MH might benefit from looking again at the design and siting of many of our MHSPs.
as most are due for an upgrade (20 yr plan...) perhaps now is the time to review how we can make more (profit?/service?) out of them

now, whats got your goat today, Tinny....
no need to get personal and slip back into your Moderator mode...
seems Jay and I cant even have a little banter without you moderating....
it must be catching as your old mate M was doing a bit on the Cirencester thread...
i let that pass in that thread (form the sake of the anniverary couple....) but you guys really need to stop vetting others' posts.

i must have detected traces of the old TW, there.....
so, please don't address me in the third person, to someone else....if you have something to say to me, have the decency to say it directly, rather than creep around with third person asides...
thank you for your cooperation....

For goodness sake, BB, come down off your high horse. How many times have you done the same and not seen it as a problem? You've just talked about M in less than flattering tones In a post to me. Pot calling kettle methinks.
As for creeping around - joke of the year.

I'm thinking the OP has had a ball with this thread. Thrown in a relatively hypothetical scenario, then sit back and watch and read all the huffing and puffing that it was bound to attract. I am quite sure that if someone rolled up late and there was no
room, then a member would get as much help as possible, without compromising the site security and causing a problem. But the whole scenario in reality must be relatively rare. What experienced MH, touring either here or abroad is so naive as to not be aware
of water and waste management? Certainly not at Beechwood Grange either, a favourite haunt of the OP?0
