Rock Solid WiFi Sites?
I am retired but my husband is still working. Provided he has a good phone signal and good WiFi he can work anywhere, however. We would like to get away more in our caravan and are looking for sites that have these characteristics, so that he can work and
I can play during the day. Does anyone know a good source of such info for sites in the UK - and also abroad?

Rural sites and phone signals/wifi don't go hand in hand I'm afraid.

have a look at the FON website....
in effect, its a way of piggy backing (legally) onto domestic wifi routers...
if you subscribe to FON (all BT broadband customers are in FON by default) you agree to share a small bit of your home bandwidth with other FON members, in return you can use some of theirs....
now, on sites you might be well away from civilisation, but such is the penetration of BT in the UK market that home with BT broadband are pretty much everywhere....
with a long range aerial, ot may well be able to pick up several FON (BT) routers and you just connect and sign in....
see motorhomewifi.co.uk (i think) for more help on long range aerials and a router to give you a wifi singal in the van so that more than one device can share the signal.
similarly abroad, there are many FON households...eg in France SFR is the equivalent to BT and all SFR customers provide a FON signal to use....

You could always purchase a MiFi which operates on a mobile phone network. If you can get 4g then excellent download speeds can be achieved. Even 3g gives up to 8 mb. Use Google to search for threads on MiFi this and other forum. I use a 3 MiFi and can usually
get a signal.0 -
For mobile you can always look at the coverage checkers. These give some idea. 3's is the most reliable, if it shows you have coverage, it has always been avsilable. EE isn't bad, O2 less reliable. Then of course there is the site Wifi, if you stick to gold
and silver sites, it's usability is good.
